A group of staff from the City of Plymouth attended the Women in Public Service conference at Hamline University last week. The conference theme, Holistic Leadership, emphasized the integration of mind, body and spirit in effective leadership and nurturing a culture that values the well-being of the whole person. Plymouth’s Small Business Networking Group gathered last week to network and hear from Brew Park founder Dr. Woodward as she shared her experience starting and expanding her Plymouth business. The Plymouth Fire Department swore in six new crew members at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. Firefighters Aaron Stevenson, Tyrena Murch, Jevin Jensen, Peter Hackett, Luis Lopez Gonzalez and Bryson Barth were sworn in as the department's newest part-time/on-call firefighters. The Plymouth Communications Division was recognized at last night’s city council meeting after taking home three awards from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators. The statewide professional association selected the City of Plymouth as the winner of its first place Northern Lights Award in the photography category and presented the team a Silver Award in two categories: logo, illustration or graphic, and community engagement. The awards recognized projects completed throughout the past year. Congrats to the Communications Division for these achievements🏆🤩

We were thrilled to help cut the ribbon at Midwest Physical Therapy’s newly expanded space. Midwest Physical Therapy offers a variety of physical therapy modalities to guide patients through all stages of injury recovery and prevention. The expanded space is also home to partners Uptown Healing Clinic and East Meets West Massage, which offer chiropractic and massage therapy, respectively. Congratulations, Midwest Physical Therapy!

A big thanks goes out to City of Plymouth election staff and our 392 election judges who contributed many hours of their time to help administer the 2024 General Election in Plymouth (and will continue to work into the night). Nearly 21,000 residents cast a ballot at Plymouth City Hall during the early voting period (Sept. 20 through Nov. 4). Thank you to everyone involved – your work is appreciated! 

Work is officially underway on the city’s major mixed-use redevelopment project – The Boulevard. Taking shape at the former Prudential campus in northern Plymouth, city staff and elected officials helped celebrate the groundbreaking of the 75-acre site earlier this week. Plans for the project include mixed retail, waterfront dining, grocery, med-tech offices, residential units and a large park with nature trails and greenspace. City of Plymouth communications staff were excited to attend the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) fall conference yesterday in Brooklyn Center. Communicators from across Minnesota gathered to share best practices; learn tips and tricks on topics ranging from crisis communications, social media, website accessibility; and so much more. City of Plymouth employee Sydney Hudzinski is set to compete at the International Society of Arboriculture International Tree Climbing Competition this weekend in Savannah, Georgia, where 80 competitors from around the world go head-to-head in a contest of tree climbing skills. Hudzinski qualified for the competition by taking the top spot in the women’s category at the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture’s 2024 Tree Climbing Championship. She can often be spotted in tree canopies during the day, using a specialized set of skills to climb and care for the city’s park and boulevard trees.
