If you've noticed a few more trees in City Parks, it's because as part of the Richardson Replants program several trees were planted across Richardson to restore the city's tree canopy. We caught up with Parks and Rec superintendent Jeff Jackson and his team at a recent planting at Glenville Park, 500 S. Glenville Dr., to see how he and his team are #MakingADifference, to ensure that the parks and other shared spaces in Richardson are enjoyable for all. Visit https://lnkd.in/gJ7tB7QX to explore jobs with the City including seasonal and part-time positions. Richardson Replants Tree giveaways will resume in the spring. So pleased to be part of yesterday’s Twin Rivers Park ribbon cutting ceremony. The park is an amazing addition to our open space offerings and will be enjoyed by residents and guests for many years. An especially exciting part of the day was cutting a second ribbon on the Bob & Lynn Townsend Bridge. Bob and Lynn were amazing individuals who each loved serving the City of Richardson Texas and who both worked tirelessly to make Richardson engaging and inclusive. I was blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Bob as he served with great honor and distinction on the City Council for 16 years. Thanks to the Townsend family for joining the celebration!

As counties and cities prepare for the 89th Legislative Session of the State of Texas, it is essential for us to collaborate with valuable partners like the North Texas Commission to preserve our local control. To that end, today’s North Texas Legislative Summit was a critical gathering of elected and appointed officials, business leaders, and institutional partners. Thanks to the NTC for providing me the opportunity to represent the City of Richardson Texas by serving as their Local Government Policy Task Force Co-Chair this session. From transportation to public safety, access to health care, clean water, and reliable energy, local governments are at the forefront of ensuring our region remains a great place to live, learn and earn. Congratulations to Christopher Lee on coordinating an impactful NTC legislative agenda and summit!

This evening, the City Council adopted the Envision Richardson update to the Comprehensive Plan. A Comprehensive Plan is a long-term guide for city development, outlining goals for land use, transportation, housing, and economic growth. The City contracted with Kimley-Horn and its team on the project and posed with several of the program managers with the company and the City who worked on the near two-year long plan. To learn more how it will shape Richardson's future, visit www.EnvisionRichardson.com.
