Today Mayor Walsh announced new leadership in the Office of Analytics, Performance and Innovation, appointing Vincent Scipione to Director of Digital Services, and Jason Scharf to Deputy Director of Digital Services. As director, Scipione (photo one) will lead efforts to modernize digital systems, leveraging technology to improve both the constituent’s digital experience with the City and the effectiveness of our employees. Scharf (photo two) will be responsible for promoting digital innovations and supporting digital solutions to improve City government service delivery for residents. Last week, Director of the Mayor's Office to Reduce Gun Violence Lateef Johnson-Kinsey received the "Community Impact Hero Award" from the American Red Cross for his work to reduce and respond to gun violence in the community. Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh created the Mayor’s Office to Reduce Gun Violence to strengthen the city’s efforts in 2022, and as its first director, Lateef focuses on a coordinated strategy for anti-gun violence initiatives by working with residents, law enforcement and other community stakeholders. Last week, Deputy Mayor Owens joined a panel on housing in CNY at the 19th Annual Friendship Dinner Panel in partnership with the CNY Rise Center. She was joined by other housing advocates and experts from the community to discuss ongoing housing projects and initiatives and ways which the community can be involved in advocating for housing solutions.
