Generosity of City Colleagues Spells Success for Christmastime “Adopt a Family” This Christmas is extra special for two single moms who are enrolled in the City’s TEMPO (Tallahassee Engaged in Meaningful Productivity for Opportunity) program. They are the recipients of holiday gifts provided by the City's Customer Operations' initiative, “Adopt a Family.” For the seventh year, James Barnes and the Customer Ops team, along with other City colleagues, have made Christmas wishes come true for needy families. One mother, still a teen, is working on a GED and lives with her infant daughter in a local homeless shelter. The other young woman, the mother of two, completed her GED last May. She plans to pursue an education in the medical field. Barnes is grateful for the “incredible generosity and support” for the annual effort. The wish lists for both families were quickly fulfilled, with requests ranging from a highchair and clothes for an 8-month-old girl to books, educational games and a bike. “The gifts you contributed to ‘Adopt a Family’ have brought so much joy and comfort, making their holidays truly special,” he said. “Your kindness is a reminder of the power of community and the positive difference we can make when we come together.” #GiveBack #LiftUp #HappyHolidays
