Join us in congratulating Heather Barber on her appointment to Director of Human Resources. Heather has worked for the #cityofvv since 2021 and served as our Assistant Director of Human Resources since last February. Prior to joining our City, Heather held several leadership positions during her 15-year career in the credit union industry including eight years as a branch manager. We are fortunate to have a person of Heather's caliber on our team with the ability to develop into the director position.

Tuesday night, our three #cityofvv Council Members who won the 2024 election were sworn into office: Tiffany Gaudin representing District 1, Liz Becerra representing District 3, and Leslie Irving representing District 5. The City Council also took action to appoint Liz Becerra to serve as Mayor and Bob Harriman to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Congratulations! We are excited for the year ahead!

This week we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of our Southern California Logistics Airport. SCLA is the largest employment center in the Victor Valley and home to Fortune 500 companies like Boeing and GE Aviation. SCLA is the reason #cityofvv has emerged as a leader in the aviation, industrial, and manufacturing industries. Since opening in 1994, we have been able to transform SCLA into the economic engine that drives our local economy while offering 4,500 jobs for our residents. We are excited to see SCLA continue to evolve and contribute to our economy.

We're excited to announce that our Victorville Wellness Center was named a 2024 Best Building Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association! A record-breaking 97 entries from 53 agencies were submitted this year showcasing remarkable commitment to advancing public works in Southern California. The Wellness Center is at the heart of our strategic goal to reduce homelessness in the #cityofvv. Since opening at the end of 2023, nearly 100 individuals have graduated through our support services to permanent housing. Congratulations to our amazing Victorville City Team for their efforts to bring our vision for the Wellness Center to life!
