Civil Air Patrol's Geospatial Team is working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to process photos and video of California’s wildfires to assess impact and help direct response and recovery efforts. Cadet Col. Lindsey Peter of our North Carolina Wing’s Asheville Composite Squadron has achieved Civil Air Patrol's Gen. Carl A. Spaatz Award, our top cadet honr. She served as the squadron’s cadet commander, attended CAP Cadet Officer School, and participated in the International Air Cadet Exchange program in 2024. Peter is studying aviation management at Auburn University, where she's also an Air Force ROTC cadet. #CivilAirPatrol #CAPCadet

Experienced airline pilot Capt. Deborah Hecker joined Civil Air Patrol Foundation's Board of Trustees. Hecker is the director for flight operations training policies and procedures for American Airlines. Her three sons were CAP cadets in the Texas Wing's Thunderbolt Composite Squadron. #CivilAirPatrol

Civil Air Patrol cadets, their Junior ROTC counterparts, and students interested in aviation learned about CAP's storied early National Executive Board chaiman, Air Force Gen. Carl “Tooey” Spaatz, at a presentation at the Spaatz museum in Boyerstown, Penn. Col. Frank Blazich, Jr.’s role as Civil Air Patrol national historian emeritus as well as a museum curator stems from his lifelong fascination with aviation history. Along with a 2020 Air University Press volume focusing on CAP’s World War II coastal patrol mission, his long list of career accomplishments includes securing a Museum of the United States Air Force exhibit devoted to the CAP Cessna 182 that flew over Ground Zero the day after 9/11. Cadet Col. Zackery Leath of the North Dakota Wing has been awarded Civil Air Patrol's top cadet honor, the Gen. Carl A. Spaatz Award. Leath joined CAP in 2019 with the 119th ANG Cadet Squadron in Fargo. His passion for aviation and emergency services led him to serve as his squadron’s cadet commander and staff numerous CAP events, including encampments and the National Blue Beret special activity in Oshkosh, Wis. #CivilAirPatrol #CAPCadet

Civil Air Patrol has been recognized with five awards from the International Association of Emergency Management USA. One award was for CAP in its U.S. Air Force auxiliary role as Voluntary Organization of the Year, another for CAP’s partnership with the ReadyOp communications system, and three individual awards.
