As governments revise their national climate plans after #COP29, CLASP has created a free, user-friendly toolkit that supports policymakers to include ambitious appliance efficiency targets. Our research shows that the appliance sector accounts for nearly 40% of global energy-related CO2 emissions. Advancing appliance energy efficiency is a proven, cost-effective way to reduce emissions, and help people adapt and thrive. Energy efficiency is a proven, cost-effective method to cut emissions and achieve net-zero goals, yet it was notably absent from most high-level discussions at #COP29: https://bit.ly/3Z3LMlh This was in sharp contrast to #COP28 in Dubai, where efficiency received its long-overdue spotlight. International Energy Agency (IEA) research shows energy efficiency can slash global emissions by 40%. This solution cannot drop off the climate agenda.
