Whew - it took a minute to be able to absorb and summarize all Day 2 here at the CNEW Workshop: 📚 First-class, first-hand lectures on the Biodesign process as applied to neurotech from Rush Bartlett, Tom Flores, Steve Fening, James Zanewicz, JD, LLM, RTTP, Tim Marjenin, Erika Ross Ellison, Daniel Powell and Robert D. Barnes, CISSP. 🏥 Direct feedback on unmet clinical needs from neurosurgeons from the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute: Dr. Sean Nagle, Dr. Akshay Sharma, Dr. Ahmed Kaskoush, and Cleveland NeuroDesign Fellow Dr. Efstathios Kondylis 🧠 CNEW is a project-based workshop and we entered the "fun stuff" of brainstorming, evaluating and filtering solutions for the team's need statements. 👫 CNEW is, above all, about relationships, and our faculty, mentors and students enjoyed dinner together.

2024 NeuroDesign Workshop ... Day 1 in the books: 🤗 We welcomed our students and faculty to sunny Cleveland OH at Case Western Reserve University. 🏈 Kickoff by Andy Cornwell - why do we do this? Because innovation is a process that can be learned, not lighting in a bottle to be captured. 🤖 Rush Bartlett introduced us to Sluice AI, a Biodesign-based innovation software platform. ⚕ Christopher Pulliam, PhD talked to us about how to perform thorough research on disease states and clinical context within which medtech innovation occurs. 👯♂️ Stormy Compeán Sweitzer led our teams through a process of self-evaluation and team-norm development. 🔍 Jonathan Sakai spoke with Chris Pulliam, Ian Burkhart and Blake Perkins about early, often and impactful consideration of those with lived experience. 🔧 Our teams participated in a workshop to adapt toys for use by kids with disabilities under the guidance of Replay For Kids. More to come! 🎵 🎸 music credit Stephen Kinsey, Stuart Rubin, Jonathan Sakai

Alrighty folks... prepare for a steady stream of LI posts live from the Cleveland NeuroDesign Workshop. We are underway with 32 students in science, engineering and medicine who are learning to add a dimension of entrepreneurship to their already strong technical skillset. This workshop is a labor of love for our faculty, mentors and organizers who care deeply about training a new generation of innovators. We look forward to sharing some insights from the weekend!
