The team recently finished up an Outdoor Kitchen project. We were able to re-use the clients existing pellet grill and mini-fridge. The kitchen featured granite countertops, premium HDPE outdoor cabinetry, and a dry stack style masonry system to adapt to the project sites existing structures. Winter is a great time to plan your next Outdoor Living project. Visit us at www.choosecliff.com to get started, or give our office a call. Your lawn and landscaping are some of the first things your guests see when they visit your property. As we know - first impressions are important! Take a look at this home before and after we installed professional landscaping. 5 common features most landscape projects should consider: 1.) PropORTiONALity & LAYOUT - Plant sizes, plant positions, bed sizes, bed shapes, accent color area sizing, boulder placement - these are just a few things to consider in a well planned landscape project. See how important proportionality is? 2.) GRADING & DRAINAGE - Ensuring water is flowing away from structures is a must with any project, especially landscaping! Berming and grading of the sub grade provides visual interest and an element of height. 3.) BED MEDIA - Are you going to install rock? Mulch? Where and why? Mulch provides a softer appearance, moisture retention, and is cooler and is better for annuals and other smaller perennial plantings (holds less heat in the summer than rocks). Rock can be overall less maintenance in the long run. So if you are looking for low maintenance - consider using a decorative rock in your landscape. 4.) EDGING - Two most common types of edging are what we like to call a "natural" edging, and a brick edging. Brick edging is usually essential for rock bed installations for a cleaner appearance and it creates a hard edge to retain the rock. Mulch often looks better with natural edges, but can be used with brick style edging systems. 5.) PLANTINGS - You want to find a balance of evergreen, summer color, focal point plantings. In addition to this, you want incorporate a a variety of sizes. From small annual/perennial plantings to large focal tree's. Resort back to the proportionality rule to ensure you are filling the space with the appropriate size of plants. And dont forget to plant for maturity. Consider where the plant will be at maturity, not what it looks like at the time of planting. www.choosecliff.com

It is important to properly close out & winterize your lawn Irrigation system. Much like a swimming pool, your irrigation system's underground piping will eventually freeze when winter sets in long enough. When water freezes it will lead to cracked pipes and failure of other system components. Have the professionals at Cliff help close out your system before temperatures drop! Taylor Junipers are a high quality ever green often used for privacy screens and for their tall, slender, shape. They can be an excellent choice to soften the sides of tall building structures. They grow at a moderatre rate and do well in full sun applications. The Taylor Junipers pictured are from a project we completed a few seasons ago, and they were planted at a height of 5-6 feet initially. They have really grown quickly in size.

There is something to be said about sitting around a fire with family and friends. Memories being made, stories being told, smores being eaten, the smell of a wood burning fire, and knowing you can have it all in the comfort of your own backyard. #firepit #hardscape #landscape #outdoorliving #cliff
