We’re thrilled that the En-ROADS Simulator could be part of MIT Sloan's 2024 LEAD Week! Check out their blog post for an inside look at an engaging Climate Action Simulation session.👇
In our latest blog post, we reflect on MIT Sloan School of Management's 2024 LEAD Week, a three-day program where first-year MBAs participated in workshops that covered the complexities of #diversity, #equity, #inclusion, leadership, and ethics. MIT Sloan Professors and Sustainability Initiative Co-faculty Directors, John Sterman and Roberto Rigobon, led two of these engaging sessions: 🌿 “Solving the Climate Crisis: The En-ROADS Interactive Climate Policy Simulator” led by Professor Sterman 🌎 “Collective Decision-Making for Social Impact” led by Professor Rigobon. The Philippines has just experienced a record-breaking typhoon season, with six storms hitting in under a month—an event 'supercharged' by climate change. 🌪️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/gjAFNrNB As global warming intensifies storms, millions are at risk. Our new graph in the En-ROADS Simulator (co-developed with MIT Sloan School of Management) shows the alarming rise in the population exposed to hurricanes and typhoons each year if we don't act now. Build a scenario in #EnROADS to reduce emissions and protect vulnerable communities: https://lnkd.in/eVNxtNqe #ClimateAction

🌡️ 2024 is on track to be the warmest year on record. What does our future hold if we don't act now? Extreme heat is becoming more common and severe due to climate change, leading to serious health and economic risks. With #EnROADS, you can explore the impacts of ambitious climate action versus inaction to see real examples of how extreme heat impacts our lives. 🌍 Nitrous Oxide: No Laughing Matter for the Climate Challenge The new Global Nitrous Oxide Assessment by UN Environment Programme launched at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, reveals the critical role of nitrous oxide (N₂O), also known as laughing gas, in climate change and ozone depletion. Often overshadowed by carbon dioxide and methane, N₂O ranks as the third most significant greenhouse gas, with 273 times the warming potential of CO₂ over 100 years and a lifespan exceeding a century. It is also the largest contributor to ozone depletion today. Effective reduction strategies could avoid a cumulative 235 billion tonnes CO₂e by 2100, equivalent to 6+ years of today’s global fossil fuel emissions. Test ways to decrease N₂O in #EnROADS, where you can simulate solutions like: 🌾 Optimized fertilizer use 🏭 Mitigation in industry ♻️ Waste management …and see how they make an impact on our climate. Read more → https://lnkd.in/d5dUYVGY What solutions do you think hold the most promise for addressing N₂O emissions? Share your thoughts below! ⬇️ #ClimateAction #NitrousOxide #EnROADS

Last week, we played the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 🌏 at the Geneva Graduate Institute with students attending the 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻t𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 class. 👉 After several rounds of fierce negotiations, the group reached an agreement to limit global warming at 2.3°C 🌡️ 👉 That’s a significant improvement over the 3.3°C “business as usual” but the 2°C Paris target remains out of reach 😪 👉 Raising $300 billion of climate finance for vulnerable countries as agreed in Baku COP29 also proved unsuccessful 💰 No better way to teach the complexity of climate negotiations!
