In part 3 of EcoMotion Flanigan’s Eco-Logic—Climate Resolve Series, Ted speaks with Climate Resolve Founder and Executive Director Jonathan Parfrey about our work as a climate advocacy organization committed to local climate solutions to reduce greenhouse gases and improve the lives of Angelenos. Tune in and listen as Jonathan recaps our participation in New York Climate Week, where our Shine On initiative took center stage. Climate Resolve hosted an event that showcased the concept of reflecting sunlight back into space to combat the greenhouse effect. In addition to the measures taken to reduce the heat island effect and keep Los Angeles cool, Ted and Jonathan also discuss the challenges faced by LADWP—where Jonathan served as a commissioner from 2008 to 2013. They address the tension surrounding the goal of achieving 100% carbon-free electric delivery by 2035, particularly regarding the potential use of green hydrogen in peaker plants. Furthermore, they explore the role of nonprofits in electoral campaigns, focusing on Climate Resolve’s position on Proposition 4 and the most effective ways to protect people from heat waves.
