Meet CCA's Clinician of the Week - Lorianne Plummer, LCSW! Lorianne Plummer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience and received her master's degree from East Carolina University. Lorianne is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) using this with youth, adults and in couple's work. She has completed the Gottman Method Couples Therapy training. She is experienced in helping others through life and health transitions, marriage and relationship adjustments, past trauma, new mental health diagnoses, adolescent needs and supporting those challenged by chronic illness. Lorianne meets the individual healing needs of clients through evidence-based practices of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and narrative therapy. Her background includes social work in areas of hospice, home health, and dialysis. Lorianne was an Army spouse to a combat veteran and can validate the gifts, difficulties and ‘moral injuries’ that challenge military members and first responders. She has worked with those transitioning from the Army as a career counselor. Lorianne has been described as insightful, compassionate and welcoming. Her passion is to enrich the lives of those who are willing to grow through challenges and change. She encourages clients to explore their story, show self-care, and to develop personal curiosity and self-inquiry about beliefs, emotions, boundaries, and behaviors within a safe therapeutic environment. Meet CCA's Clinician of the Week - Cindy Brizendine, PLPC! Cindy is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) in Missouri. She is under clinical supervision with Amy Todd, LPC. Cindy is working toward her Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor II (MAADC II) credential to expand her knowledge in substance use and co-occurring disorders. She is commissioned by the Secretary of State as a notary public for the State of Missouri providing services for those experiencing social barriers to notary services. She uses empirically supported treatments in collaboration with clients ensuring treatment is individualized. Cindy uses a person-centered approach to meet clients where they are. Additionally, she uses a strengths-based focus to assist those with all abilities to reach their fullest potential. Cindy believes in practicing self-care and enjoys helping others discover their own favorite ways to care for their mental health. November is recognized as Transgender Awareness Month, a special time to celebrate, honor, and advocate for our transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse (TGD) friends, family, and neighbors. This month, we aim to raise awareness, promote understanding, and appreciate the diverse experiences within the TGD community. A significant highlight of Transgender Awareness Month is the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), observed on November 20.
