At the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN) conference. Congratulations to Deneine C. Powell, MS for her new leadership role. I met Deneine C. Powell, MS when we both were helping shape the greenhouse gas reduction fund and I’m so proud of how she was able to bring that conversation to this important forum of sustainability directors from communities across the country. Thank you to her team for giving the GGRF Awardees including the Coalition for Green Capital a platform to explain how they can partner with sustainability leaders.

I am grateful to have represented the Coalition for Green Capital at last week’s Climate Underground convening at Al Gore's Caney Fork Farms in Carthage Tennessee. It was refreshing to get Vice President Gore’s perspective on how much progress has been made in the past two decades. It was particularly encouraging to see that clean energy deployment has greatly outpaced all early projections of adoption. I also appreciate Vice President Gore’s leadership in highlighting the importance of nature-based solutions like regenerative agriculture as a key part of how we achieve our net zero targets. The convening was also a beautiful full circle moment for me. Before Covid, I had the honor of helping model out the silvopasture/agroforestry design at Caney Fork Farms. It was a surreal moment to see the system in action and taste the chestnuts in a beautiful polenta curated by Alice Waters Institute for Edible Education and Regenerative Agriculture and Asher Wright. I was also moved by the perspectives of Karenna Gore, Loren Cardeli, Konda Mason and Reverend Richard Joyner on how our path to netzero needs to be imbued with honest and real conversations about the history of equity and justice in this country and globally. #theclimateunderground #greeneeconomy #cleanenergy #regenerativeagriculture #naturebasedsolutions #impactinvesting #caneyforkfarms #equityandjustice
