The Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report in the United States refers to a filing requirement introduced by the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which was enacted as part of the National Defense Authorization Act in 2020. The CTA mandates that certain companies in the U.S. disclose their beneficial owners to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, US Treasury (FinCEN). The goal is to increase transparency in the ownership of companies and to help combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and other illicit financial activities.
