Cutting Back Ornamental Grasses in Colorado 🌾✨ Did you know that timing is everything when it comes to cutting back ornamental grasses? In Colorado, the unique climate plays a big role in keeping your landscape thriving. Here's why knowing when and how to cut back your grasses matters: ✅ Why Timing Matters Leaving ornamental grasses intact during winter not only adds beauty to your landscape but also protects the plant's crown from Colorado's freezing temperatures. Cutting back too early can expose the plant to cold damage, while waiting too long in spring can interfere with new growth. ✅ When to Cut Back Early spring is the ideal time! Once the worst of winter has passed (usually late March or early April), it’s time to trim them back to about 3–5 inches above the ground. This ensures your grasses have space to thrive and grow lush for the new season. : Cutting Back Ornamental Grasses in Colorado 🌾✨ Here in Colorado, ornamental grasses are a staple for beautiful, low-maintenance landscapes. But timing and technique are crucial to keeping them healthy year after year. As a local, thriving company made up of Colorado natives, we know just how to care for your landscape in our unique climate! 🌟 ✅ Why Timing Matters In Colorado, winters can be harsh, and ornamental grasses act as their own natural insulation. Leaving them intact during the cold months protects the plant's crown from freezing. Cutting them back at the right time—early spring—ensures they can flourish without risking damage. ✅ When to Cut Back Early spring (late March or early April) is the sweet spot. This allows your grasses to survive the winter and prepares them for fresh, healthy growth when the warmer days return. ✅ How We Do It Right Expert Precision: We use proper techniques to trim grasses down to 3–5 inches, setting them up for success. Efficient Cleanup: Our team secures large clumps for a tidy, hassle-free process. Colorado-Specific Care: Because we live here, we understand what works best in our climate. Tips for the winter! 🌳 Winter Tree Care: Mulch & Water for Healthy Growth! ❄️ As winter sets in, don’t forget your trees! While they may look dormant, their roots are still active and need care: ✅ Mulch for Protection: Spread 2-4 inches of mulch around the base of your trees (but keep it a few inches away from the trunk). Mulch helps insulate roots, retain moisture, and prevent temperature fluctuations. 💧 Water During Dry Spells: Even in winter, trees need water, especially young or newly planted ones. If the ground isn’t frozen and there’s been no rain or snow for a few weeks, give your trees a deep watering. Healthy trees mean a stronger, greener landscape come spring! 🍃 #TreeCareTips #WinterTreeCare #HealthyLandscapes #MulchAndWater #CoCalCares #WeKnowCo
