Inputs on the front or rear? FRONT INPUTS Inputs on the front (i.e., the same side as the faucets/taps) are the ideal scenario for bartenders facing the guests and doing all the pouring, handing full cups over the jockey box to the guest. There are two major benefits to this: 1) the guest experiences a clean look when they approach the bar and jockey box, and 2) the bartender has all the hookups and kegs on their side, allowing them to manage all aspects of service without having to move. REAR INPUTS Inputs on the back (i.e., the opposite side as the faucets) are perfect when a jockey box is integrated into a mobile bar or beer trailer, or use by a catering company. If a guest can see the jockey box or beer faucets, they won’t see the hookups and beverage tubing that would otherwise be on the bartender’s side. https://lnkd.in/gEHmjA6Y

We use CO2 for two different reasons when using a temporary draft system, like a jockey box or jumper box. One is to move the beverage from our keg, through the jockey box coils, to our beer faucet (or tap). With a 50' coil, we need to overcome all of the resistance that coils creates, so our regulator pressure needs to be at 25-30 PSI. This is a temporary draft system. Not a balanced kegerator or professional draft system installed into a bar or brewery. So the PSI needs to be higher than normal. Normal operation in a balanced system is 10-12 PSI. The other way we can use CO2 is to carbonate beverages. Using the high pressure, we can let our beverage sit 24-48 hours, and the beverage will absorb the CO2 and become carbonated. We won't have precise control of the levels, but we can make our own sparkling drinks. https://lnkd.in/gj69mTc9

A Coldbreak customer calls and asks the difference between a jockey box and a jumper box, and is not sure how much CO2 she is going to go through. There is one main difference: Jockey boxes have the faucets mounted to the cooler, and jumper boxes have the beer faucets mounted externally. Whether to a beer tower or to a wall. You'll go through approximately 1 pound of CO2 per half barrel of beer (15.5 gallons). 5 pound tanks will last you 5-6 full kegs. Double that with 10 pound tanks and always make sure you have a spare. https://lnkd.in/gAZnQsAK

Jockey box (or jumper box) dispensing kits usually max out at 4 taps, because that's the most coils you can put in a 54 quart cooler. But does that mean CO2 tanks max out at 4 taps? The short answer is, no. Additional dispensing kits, or gas lines, can be added to your tank with a primary regulator that has another main output (if you want more control over pressure), or even simply splitting the gas line again and attaching another manifold. 5 LB CO2 tanks dispense 5-6 full size kegs, so if you add more taps to your jockey box dispensing kit, you also might want to consider adding a larger CO2 tank. https://lnkd.in/gXUyPTeS

What is the life expectancy of a jockey box or jumper box system? A Coldbreak jockey box or jumper box should last you a lifetime with the proper care and cleaning. All the parts are made from stainless steel. What we typically see is the cooler will break down faster, if you don't take care of it. Cleaning is the most important part of using and taking care of a mobile draft system. Second would be storage. Keeping the lid cracked open so the cooler can breathe will keep mold from forming on the inside while not in use. https://lnkd.in/gKi7nt59
