CYESS was busy in 2024, but so were our incredible partners! The California Academy of Sciences developed Youth Action for the Planet (YAP), a youth-led program that puts student voices front and center in the conversation around climate action and conservation. The Smithsonian Science Education Center (SSEC) introduced a free curriculum for out-of-school time practitioners to facilitate youth-led exploration, research, and advocacy around ocean sustainability. And so much more! Check out the full suite of blogs from our #CYESS partners: https://lnkd.in/e8hdeN8G

About us
The Collective for Youth Empowerment in STEM & Society (CYESS) – a new initiative of the Afterschool Alliance – aims to elevate youth voices in conversations about solutions to societal challenges. Because many of today’s societal challenges have solutions rooted in science, all young people need access to both STEM learning and civic engagement to turn that learning into action. CYESS will leverage the afterschool field’s expertise in providing nurturing, supportive environments for young people, engaging STEM experiences, and opportunities for community engagement to ensure all young people have opportunities to make their voices heard and improve their communities through STEM.
