What do plants and Criminal Justice have in common? .... It turns out, quite a bit!
Dr. Joe Hamm, an expert of trust research, is part of a team of researchers at MSU that the National Science Foundation has tasked with solving food challenges worldwide.
He is working with the MSU Center for Sustainable Plant Innovation and Resilience through International Teamwork (C-SPIRIT) to develop “new, natural agricultural products that enhance crop resilience, reduce dependency on non-sustainable farming practices, and support global food security.”

Experiential learning requirement ✔️
Make real change in the Lansing community ✔️
Meet senior Halle Egan, an undergraduate assistant with the Adolescent Diversion Program (ADP) in the Department of Psychology. Halle originally joined the ADP program as a student to fulfill an experiential learning requirement. Now as a leader in ADP, Halle uses her own experience in ADP to help teach and support current students in the program.
“To me, this program is a chance to make real change. Every student who has gone through this program is given the ability to make a lasting impact on a youth’s life. It serves as a platform to be a catalyst for positive transformation within the Lansing community. I am proud to have been a part of this program, and I will continue to apply the skills and insights I have gained throughout my experiences in life.”

Meet Audrey Vang, a PSY major double minoring in Youth and Society and Sociology. Originally from Suttons Bay, Audrey transferred to Michigan State University last year with plans to graduate in Fall 2025. She credits connecting with an advisor (shoutout to Samantha Sliwa, M.S.Ed.!) for helping her transition go smoothly!
“[My advisor] understood my situation and my determination to be the best student I could be. I was genuinely grateful for the time she took to get to know me, and I trusted her process of advising. I am extremely grateful for the relationship I have developed with her in just a year.”
Audrey also shared with us what class she tells all her friends about (spoiler: the Adolescent Diversion Program) and which MSU tradition is her favorite so far! Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gysMeVqk#MSUPsychology#MSUSocialScience#PSYSpartan#MSUStudent
