About us
Founded in 1957, Columbia Forest Products is North America's premier manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer products. Columbia's decorative interior veneers and panels are used in cabinetry, fine furniture, architectural millwork and commercial fixtures. Employee-owned and headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, Columbia Forest Products operates plants throughout the United States and Canada, with an operational network that spans the globe. Columbia's products are sold through a network of wholesale distributors, mass merchandisers and original equipment manufacturers from three distinct business units: plywood, veneer and imports. In a small, rural community like ours, good jobs with real opportunities aren’t always easy to come by. But here at Columbia Forest Products, we have something truly special—we own where we work. Being employee-owned means we’re not just clocking in and out. We’re building something together. Every hour of hard work, every product we make, every success we achieve—it all comes back to us. ✅ Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP): Every year, the company contributes 15% of your annual wages into your ESOP—at no cost to you. ✅ Gainshare Bonus: Based on our performance, employees receive cash bonuses throughout the year—because when we do well, we all benefit. ✅ We invest in each other because when the company grows, so do we. ✅ We take pride in what we do because we have a real stake in it. ✅ We look out for one another because we’re in this together. It’s rare to find this kind of opportunity right here at home—a place where hard work doesn’t just pay the bills, but actually builds a future. And that’s something worth appreciating. To everyone who shows up, gives their best, and takes pride in being part of something bigger—we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re proud to build this together. #EmployeeOwned

In the wood industry, staying ahead of market trends is essential for meeting customer demands and ensuring that we're always ready with the right products. Right now, two wood species are gaining significant traction: walnut and straight-grain white oak. Walnut has come back into popularity for its rich, deep tones that bring warmth and sophistication to any space. This timeless appeal is making it a favorite in the market. Straight-grain white oak has seen a surge in demand, largely driven by home remodeling trends, like on HGTV and other popular design shows. Its clean, contemporary look has made it the go-to for modern interiors. At Columbia Forest Products, we make it a priority to stay in tune with what's trending in the industry. By keeping our ear to the ground, we can better understand demand and ensure we’re carrying the right inventory to meet our customers' evolving needs. Staying ahead of trends isn’t just about keeping up, it’s about anticipating what’s next and being prepared to provide the materials that will shape the next wave of design. That’s what drives us.

February's wood species is Maple! Maple has been a staple in the industry for many years and has earned its place as the most widely used hardwood species, thanks to being cost-effective and its ability to easily take a variety of paints and stains. How have you used Maple? 🍁🪵 #Maplewood #Woodworking #MapletheStaple #ColumbiaForestProducts

How well do you know your finishes? The two primary types of finishes are "penetrating finish" and "surface finish." Go with a surface finish if your goal is long-lasting protection! #startwiththefinish #themoreyouknow #plywoodcreations
