🚨 New insights from Common App's first application deadline update of the season! 🚨
We're excited to share some early trends in college application behaviors for the 2024-25 cycle. Here are a few highlights:
📈 19% increase in rate of first-generation applicants from 2023-2024, reflecting a significant rise in access and interest among these students.
🎓 Total application volume to returning members through November 1 rose 10% from 2023–24 (3,648,726) to 2024–25 (4,017,250).
🌐Latinx, Black or African American, and American Indian or Alaska Native applicants among the fastest growing: Applicants identifying as an underrepresented minority race/ethnicity (URM) increased by 16% in 2024–25, with fastest growth for applicants identifying as Latinx (17%) Black or African American (15%), and American Indian or Alaska Native (6%).
⚖️Applications to public members (12%) grew more than those to private members since 2023–24 (8%)
