This week, a major milestone for V2X-enabled bicycles in the EU was achieved: bicycles can now receive valid certificates, allowing cars with V2X to accept Cooperative Awareness Messages from them, paving the way for mass deployment! This was achieved through the coordinated effort of the members of the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium Micromobility workgroup, as well as the various reviewers who helped with bring everything together: Andreas Wienss; ✦ Chen Tamir; Jannis Fritz, Niklas Puller, Jürgen Hauenstein, Martijn Broens, Hennes Fischer, Jasja Tijink, Mario Friedrich, and the head of the workgroup - our very own András Wippelhauser. Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this milestone! We are proud that our V2X roadside units, deployed in the European C-Roads projects, have sent road safety messages to mass-produced cars in a successful test in Hungary! During the test, C-ITS ⚠️ Road Works Warning ⚠️ messages were transmitted from Hungarian Public Roads' infrastructure to a V2X-enabled 2024 Volkswagen Passat, with secure communication powered by Microsec V2X PKI and infrastructure provided by Commsignia. Thank you to our partners at Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. - Hungarian Public Roads, Sagemcom Magyarország Kft., Microsec V2X PKI, and Volkswagen Group for this incredible collaboration. Santa's little helpers were busy this year as well and brought us a huge surprise! 🎅 🎄 The C-Roads 2 project has come to an end and our main goal was not just to step out of our comfort zone during the implementation, but from the pilot level as well. After a long year of preparation together with VW, we managed to show our first C-ITS message on a factory standard '24 VW Passat. ⚠️ 🚗. Of course, this was only a test if the settings are OK and everything is according to VW's specification, but it worked perfectly. ✅ The real and hard work, to enroll this service to other RSUs and cars as well starts only now, but this proves that C-ITS will become reality in Hungary as well soon. 👷 🛣️ 🚧 Special thanks & kudos goes to Jannis Fritz who supported the process from VW side, all the participants of Commsignia, Microsec V2X PKI, Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. - Hungarian Public Roads who worked tiredlessly to make this happen, and last but not least ASFINAG who supported us with sharing their knowledge and experience during their implementation. 🙏 The C-Roads project was realised in Co-Funding by the European Union 🔵 🟡 CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency This shows, that cooperation is the key to embrace innovation. 🤝 #saferoadstoday #cits #croads

Big news: the Federal Communications Commission published the final spectrum rules for C-V2X technology in the 5.9 GHz band. We've adopted final spectrum rules for auto safety to support cellular-vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) tech in the 5.9 GHz band. We're dedicating space for vehicle sensors to communicate with others using the road. C-V2X technology provides direct communications between vehicles, roadside infrastructure, and other road users such as cyclists, pedestrians, and road workers to facilitate, among other things, non-line-of-sight awareness, notice of changing driving conditions, and automated driving. More communication = more safety.
