With the New Year around the corner, we’re highlighting our incredible staff at Lee’s Summit. Their warmth, dedication, and care inspire donors like Jim W., who shared this photo with some of his “good friends” at the center. Jim donates regularly because, as he puts it, “There’s always a need.” But it’s the team at Lee’s Summit that keeps him coming back, creating an atmosphere where donors feel valued and appreciated. Jim consistently gives Kinsey, Mark, Jennifer, and the rest of the team "5 stars," while complimenting their friendliness and professionalism. ⭐ Looking for a meaningful #NewYearsResolution? Start 2025 by visiting your local blood center—you’ll not only save lives but meet some truly amazing people along the way! #BloodDonation #GiveBack #LeesSummit #SaveLives #Teamwork

Save a Life. Right Here. Right Now.
About us
Fifty years ago, a group of Kansas City area physicians, hospital and civic leaders became the first architects of today's Community Blood Center. Their single-minded vision was to save lives by serving the needs of patients in this community. Today, Community Blood Center meets that goal and offers many other services. Our Mission is to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood components to meet the transfusion needs of patients in our community. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, Community Blood Center is an active participant member with America's Blood Centers (ABC). ABC is the nation's largest network of not-for-profit, independent community blood centers that collect over 50 percent of the nation's blood supply at more than 600 blood collection centers. ABC members are licensed and regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and maintain the highest levels of quality control to ensure the safest and most dependable blood supply for the communities they serve.

🎄 Holiday Cheer and Team Spirit! 🎄 Our team came together to celebrate the season and give back to our community in a meaningful way. This year, we continued our tradition of supporting a local charity by donating 25 sleeping bags to Turning Point's cold weather shelter, helping those in need stay warm this winter. 🛌❄️ We’re so proud of the generosity and heart our team shows, both in their work and their commitment to saving lives together! 💙 #Teamwork #HolidayGiving #MakingADifference #TurningPointShelter #CommunityImpact

"People's lives rely on every single one of us who is part of this. It's what we do." After a devastating car accident, Alicia's life was saved thanks to a team of doctors, a dozen surgeries, and eight units of generously donated blood. Now fully recovered, Alicia, a mother and an account manager at Memorial Blood Centers (a division of NYBCe), is living proof that it's "in our blood" to be lifesavers. #Teamwork #StaffHighlights #Lifesavers

🌟 Employee Highlight: Morgan Welch 🌟 We’re proud to shine a spotlight on Morgan Welch, Account Manager at Community Blood Center, for the incredible work she’s done to support our mission over the last three years. Morgan has: ❤️ Organized 579 blood drives ❤️ Collected 20,058 pints of blood ❤️ Helped save up to 60,174 lives! These numbers speak for themselves, but what they really mean is that every donation Morgan has helped collect could save a NICU baby at Children’s Mercy, support a cancer patient at KU Med, or replenish blood for a car accident victim at University Health. Morgan, thank you for everything you do to encourage our donors and to help patients in need. Your impact is felt across our entire community, and we couldn’t do this without you! 🌟 #EmployeeSpotlight #CBC #LifesavingWork #AccountManager #Nonprofit

In light of the holidays, and knowing that #GivingTuesday is right around the corner, for the next 12 days I'll be sharing organizations I've directly worked with that would make great options to donate to. "On the first day of Giving Tuesday, my true love gave to me..." One unit of blood! 🩸 The Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City is a dedicated organization I've had the pleasure of working with in the past, and can full-heartedly recommend them for their dedication to the Kansas City area. They ensure the donations go to the local hospitals and work hard to give those in medical need higher chances of survival with blood donations. Check them out here! https://lnkd.in/g52MvETw

I have the ultimate "we" opportunity today—join us at the Kansas City Chiefs Blood Drive until 7 p.m. tonight. Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City All units collected support the hospitals of Kansas City and surrounding counties. SAVING OUR NEIGHBORS LIVES -- Brings us all together! There is no synthetic replacement for human blood. We literally have to save each other. https://lnkd.in/gC_j9dAT
I’ve seen firsthand how our society has shifted from a "we" mentality to a "me" mentality, and it’s troubling. In national and state politics, division seems to drive success. But at the local level, it’s clear that collaboration is the only path forward. Every project we undertook in Kansas City—from infrastructure improvements to education initiatives—required diverse coalitions of people willing to work together for the greater good. In a fast-paced, results-now world, it’s easy to lose sight of the long game. But in local government, we rise or fall together. When we invest in each other, we all benefit. Do you think our society can return to more of a "we" mentality? How can we encourage that shift?
