"Women physicians continue to break barriers and inspire change", says Beth Hodges 💙 💪 🩺
Today, we celebrate National Women Physician Day, which honors the birthday of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States. This day serves as a reminder of the incredible strength, dedication, and leadership that women in healthcare bring to their patients, teams, and communities. It also recognizes the trailblazing women who have broken barriers in medicine and continue to inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders. 👩⚕️✨ We’re proud to share insights from two of our leaders, Dr. Beth Hodges, Chief Clinical Officer of Triad HealthCare Network and Dr. Valerie Leschber, Chief Medical Officer of Cone Health whose words reflect the journey and ongoing progress of women in medicine. Dr. Hodges reflects: We’re fortunate to live in a time where women physicians are not only valued but also lead in healthcare. I’m deeply grateful to my mentor, Dr. Mary Pryor, and all the women who came before me, like Dr. Pryor, who was one of only two women in her medical school class and the only one to graduate. Their perseverance paved the way for all of us who follow. Women physicians continue to break barriers and inspire change, creating a lasting impact on the future of medicine. Dr. Leschber shares: Women in medicine face unique challenges, but it’s crucial to support each other and honor those who paved the way. Attributes often considered feminine, such as nurturing, compassion, and empathy, are the same qualities patients value in their physicians. Studies also show that women physicians contribute to better patient outcomes, which is especially important in our ongoing value-based care transformation at Cone Health with Risant Health. Women physicians play a vital role in creating healthier communities. Today, we honor and thank all the women who are driving progress in healthcare and for the care they provide to our patients each day. #TriadHealthCareNetwork, #THN #ConeHealth #valuebasedcare #NationalWomenPhysicianDay #WomenInMedicine
