Calling all grid innovators! The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority has extended the application deadline for Cycle 3 of its Innovative Energy Solutions Program. Interested applicants can submit their application through the online portal through February 28, 2025: https://lnkd.in/es_Xktsp

PURA welcomes ratepayer feedback in the rate case regarding Yankee Gas, and we will be holding three public comment hearings, scheduled for February 10, March 17, and April 9. These hearings pertain to Docket No. 24-12-01, which was initiated in November 2024 when Yankee Gas Services Company submitted an application requesting approval to amend Yankee’s existing rate schedule. On February 10 at 5:30pm, the public comment hearing will be held at the Danbury Police Department Community Room at 375 Main Street in Danbury. On March 17 at 5:30pm, the public comment hearing will be held at Vernon Town Hall at 14 Park Place, 3rd Floor, in Vernon. On April 9 at 12pm, PURA will be holding a virtual comment hearing. The Connecticut Innovative Energy Solutions (IES) Program is a statewide initiative to identify, pilot, and scale innovative ideas that enable a decarbonized, affordable, resilient, and equitable electric grid for Connecticut. Pilot projects that demonstrate benefits, cost-effectiveness, and scalability will have the opportunity to be deployed at scale in Connecticut. The theme of Cycle 3 is “Smart Energy Communities.” The IES Program seeks novel energy projects that benefit communities and can be easily replicated by other communities facing similar issues. Interested applicants are asked to submit concept proposals via online portal by February 1, 2025. For further information, email the Program Administrator at info@ct-ies.com

PURA has opened a docket to identify improvements to equity and accessibility in its proceedings, Docket No. 24-09-07. We are interested in improving opportunities for participation in decision-making processes, particularly for low-income residential customers, residential customers that experience high energy burdens, and individuals and communities impacted by PURA decisions.    PURA intends to hold public meetings on March 20, 2025, and May 16, 2025. We welcome suggestions as to specific towns and event locations, such as libraries, town halls, or other community spaces, and input on how these public meetings could be made more accessible to community members, including timing, provision of childcare, and transit access.    Comments in this docket are due January 17 at 4pm.
