CINCH is a regional coalition improving children’s health in Hampton Roads through dynamic partnerships.

About us

CINCH, the leading regional children’s health coalition in Hampton Roads, is a diverse network of children’s advocates, concerned citizens, and organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and their families. Our coalition includes health and human service agencies, local universities, hospitals, managed care organizations, and community and faith-based organizations from across Hampton Roads. We organize our efforts into workgroups focused on specific health priorities, addressing key issues through collaboration, education, advocacy, and program improvement. Guided by research and data, and with Eastern Virginia Medical School serving as our lead agency, CINCH works to influence policies, systems, and environments that shape healthier futures for children and families in our community. • 🌍 Access to healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. Did you know that 1 in 8 people worldwide face the risk of poverty due to out-of-pocket health expenses exceeding 10% of their household budget? This financial burden often prevents mothers and families from accessing life-saving interventions and timely treatment for themselves and their children. At CINCH, we believe in the power of equitable healthcare access. Healthier populations create more resilient and prosperous communities, bringing us closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On this Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day, we join the global call for urgent action to implement financial protection measures that safeguard the most vulnerable among us. The need to spend large amounts out-of-pocket to access health services is placing 1 in 8 people worldwide at risk of poverty due to out-of-pocket health expenditure of 10% or more of their household budget. Governments must adequately invest in #HealthForAll and protect people – particularly the most vulnerable among us – from impoverishing health spending. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3OGl5hA

In 2021, I made the decision that MyActiveChild.com would donate a portion of all local advertising to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters - specifically to their children's mental health initiatives. While this plan has been in action, and mentioned in our media kit ever since, I haven't shared an update on the impact of that decision. I am thrilled to let you know that, to date, MyActiveChild.com has contributed over $10,000 to support children's mental health in Hampton Roads. 💗 It was a proud (and surreal) moment to see this panel helping to light up the wall of the CHKD Pavilion. To all of you who have supported my small business through our advertising partnerships, as local readers, and as cheerleaders.... thank you for allowing me to support such an important resource for local families in Hampton Roads. Thank you for helping to #bethechange and #lighttheway in our community.
