✨ A Walk Through Art, Poetry, and History at NGMA! ✨ This weekend, our cohort had the most enriching experience at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, exploring the legacy of Asit Kumar Haldar and the Bengal School of Art. The Artsy Photo–Heritage Walk was not just a journey through paintings and history—it was a space for creativity, reflection, and community. Led by Aadrit Banerjee for our cohort, we were also joined by fellow participants who brought in their own perspectives and insights. From interpreting masterpieces to writing poetry inspired by Haldar’s work, capturing stunning moments through photography, and discussing decolonial perspectives in art, every aspect of the walk was an intellectual and artistic delight. The postcards, poetry prompts, and museum atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and engaged in this immersive exploration of art and heritage! #ArtWalk #HeritageWalk #BengalSchool #PoetryAndPhotography #DecolonialArt #NGMA #DelhiEvents #PublicDomainCelebration

This immersive experience not only provided them with firsthand exposure to real-world research challenges but also deepened their understanding of effective data collection methodologies. By interacting with vendors, navigating diverse socio-economic dynamics, and refining their analytical skills, the cohort gained invaluable practical insights that will enrich their future academic and professional pursuits.

Consortium of Global Scholars was delighted to receive the news that two of our cohort members, Tarini Singh Singh and Pranav Khatri , emerged as winners at the ASEAN Research Symposium, held in collaboration with the Ramjas Consulting Society. Focused on the theme “India and ASEAN: Exploring Pathways for Collaborative Growth and Innovation,” their paper, titled “Pathways for ASEAN-India Collaboration on LGBTQ+ Social Safety Nets,” offers a groundbreaking perspective on improving social conditions for the LGBTQ+ community, with a particular focus on transgender individuals in the ASEAN region. Using the framework of Garima Greh safehouses in India, the paper delves into the challenges faced by the transgender community both in India and ASEAN nations, including issues of social stigmatization, transphobic violence, and the lack of secure housing. Through a comparative analysis of case studies, the research identifies existing models of support (where available), examines policy gaps, and proposes culturally sensitive frameworks for establishing safehouses and protective measures on a regional scale. By exploring commonalities and culturally specific distinctions, the paper advocates for the implementation of robust social safety nets for transgender individuals. The authors argue that collaborative efforts between India and ASEAN nations can serve as a catalyst for creating safe and empowering spaces for transgender individuals, beginning with the establishment of safehouses. This achievement is a testament to the Consortium's commitment to fostering impactful, solution-oriented research. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Tarini Singh and Pranav Khatri for their remarkable work, which not only aligns with the Consortium’s vision but also contributes meaningfully to advancing LGBTQ+ rights in the ASEAN region and beyond.

Consortium of Global Scholars is pleased to announce that one of our team’s abstracts has been selected for presentation at the prestigious NC Ray Memorial Paper Presentation Competition at St. Stephen’s College, as part of the National Economics Festival 2025. The research study, titled "Elucidation of the Economic Potential of Fishery Waste Valorisation in Angler’s Paradise: A Study Exploring the Upcycling of Fish Waste in Kashmir", aims to explore how the local fishery community in Kashmir can utilize fish waste and convert it into wealth. The study investigates how the utilisation of fish waste in Kashmir’s fisheries sector can reduce income inequality by creating equitable income opportunities for marginalised communities. It also examines how fish waste utilisation helps achieve Sustainable Development Goals and fosters the sustainability of the fishery sector in Kashmir. Additionally, the research delves into how fish waste utilisation contributes to food security in alignment with the zero hunger approach, the role of the government and other organisations in supporting effective fish waste utilisation in Kashmir, and how the socio-economic conditions of local fishery communities can be improved through this approach. It further explores how fish waste can be leveraged for the development of local markets in Kashmir. The study employs a mixed-method approach, including interviews, surveys, and secondary data, to provide a comprehensive perspective on fish waste utilisation in Kashmir.

The cohort from consortium of Global Scholars recently attended an enlightening lecture by Siddharth Sharma at Ramjas College, University of Delhi. The lecture titled "Postcolonial Paradigms of Trauma and Its Affordances for Academic Writing as a Transformative Experience," explored the intersection of trauma studies, cultural materiality, and academic writing. The speaker introduced the concept of “affordances,” a term rooted in cultural materiality studies, explaining how theories such as trauma can be repurposed in unexpected ways to enrich academic discourse. He argued that postcolonial trauma theory not only provides profound insights into the socio-cultural contexts of trauma but also enables transformative academic writing that impacts both the researcher and the world. The lecture further traced the evolution of trauma studies, critiquing Freud's classical model and highlighting newer frameworks that emphasize imagination and socio-cultural influences. The event provided the members of the Consortium with valuable perspectives on utilizing trauma studies to foster meaningful contributions in academia and beyond.
