Empowering Credit Unions to Make a Difference in Their Communities
About us
True to our "People Helping People" philosophy, and our mission, "Empowering People to Improve Their Financial Well Being," we are dedicated to helping credit unions make a difference in the lives of the members and communities they serve. The Cornerstone Foundation is working to make a difference through its three main initiatives: promoting the overall Financial Capability of credit union members with education and grant support; providing financial support for Credit Union Development through educational opportunities, technology, and regulatory/compliance; offering Disaster Relief assistance for credit union staff and volunteers when unforeseen disaster strikes.

Thanks to the Greater Oklahoma Chapter of Credit Unions for their generous donation of $5,000! The chapter raised these funds through its annual Festival of Trees, which drew more than 145 people, netted $24,446, and raised funds for the chapter. “The Festival of Trees is always one of my favorite events because of all it represents,” said Kasey Box with Tinker Federal Credit Union. “Seeing the thought and creativity that people put into these festive trees definitely puts me in the holiday spirit. But it’s even more meaningful to see the connection the festival fosters between credit unions.” Box continued, “We’re all collaborating to raise money for a great cause and to advance the credit union mission of people helping people. It’s just awesome.” The event was held at the Credit Union House of Oklahoma.

The holiday season is about community and care! 💕 With help from a Cornerstone Foundation Community Development Grant, Highway Alliance Credit Union delivered heartfelt Thanksgiving baskets to two member families in need. “One is a couple who have been part of our Credit Union community since 1987,” explained Jami Cobian, Operations Manager for Highway Alliance Credit Union. “The husband has been struggling with serious health issues, which lead to financial strain for the family. When we learned of their situation, we knew we had to step in and provide a helping hand. The basket we prepared for them was filled with Thanksgiving essentials - a cozy throw blanket, fall-themed home decor, and a $150 Walmart gift card to help cover essential needs.”
