A new study, soon-to-be published in “Nonprofit Operations and Supply Chain Management,” shows that donor-advised funds (DAFs) are receiving more noncash gifts like stocks, bonds, or real estate. While the average charitable organization receives around 33% of noncash contributions as investments, DAF sponsors, on average, receive more than 90% of their noncash donations as investment assets. This rising trend in noncash giving has big implications for the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, as well as future tax policy. https://hubs.ly/Q02Y-SvB0

Even in these times of increased polarization, foundations continue to act as a leading force in funding work to connect and collaborate across differences. In fact, the data shows: ✅ 85% of foundations have funded connecting across differences within the past 10 years. ✅ Nearly a quarter allocated over half of their grantmaking budget to this work. ✅ Over 90% of those funding this work increased or maintained their investments between 2021 and 2022. The Council is tracking a potentially harmful bill in Congress, H.R.9495. We expect H.R.9495 to get renewed attention in the House of Representatives this week. The bill as drafted includes language that creates redundancies and confusion while providing the executive branch with expansive new authority that could be abused. We, along with our partners at Independent Sector, National Council of Nonprofits, and United Philanthropy Forum, have issued a statement expressing our opposition to Section 4 of H.R.9495 and its predecessor, H.R.6408. 🚨Here’s what you can do: ➡️ Learn more about our stance and what this means for the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors in our full statement here: https://hubs.ly/Q02YC3Hl0 ➡️ Contact your legislators and urge them to oppose H.R.6408/H.R.9495 unless amended to address these concerns: https://hubs.ly/Q02YBPhq0
