  • Tonight's Louisa County Board of Supervisors meeting included several recognitions. The Board recognized the retirement of Captain Danny Bateman and Major Ronnie Roberts of the Louisa County Sheriff's Office (LCSO). Both men were honored for their distinguished careers in law enforcement and exemplification of outstanding leadership. Captain Bateman served LCSO for 48 years and was instrumental in fostering a culture of service, excellence and integrity. Major Roberts' esteemed career also spans 48 years, including service to the Charlottesville Police Department and the Town of Louisa Police Department, and his dedication earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, public officials and citizens. Please join us in celebrating their service of nearly five decades respectively and thanking these committed officers for their lasting and positive impacts on the county. The Board proclaimed March 2-8 as Women in Construction Week (WIC) in Louisa County. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) held the first WIC in 1998 and has grown it every year since. The Richmond 141 chapter of NAWIC as well as several members of the Louisa County Community Development staff joined the Board for the recognition. Please join us in celebrating the work, the strength, the knowledge and vital role of women in the industry. Louisa County also received a recognition at the meeting from the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo). VACo presented a 2024 achievement award for the county's work in integrating communicating systems and streamlining processes to deliver information to the citizens in more places, faster. We thank VACo for presenting this award in-person and we encourage our citizens to sign up for alerts, look to our digital signage in county buildings for information, and read our monthly newsletter.
