We are thrilled to unveil the revised version of Covalent Certification Standard, enhanced based on ICROA requirements, for public consultation today! We invite scientists, carbon removal project developers, VVBs, and others to provide feedback and support the effectiveness and accountability of permanent carbon removal worldwide. It’s wonderful timing as the 🇪🇺 just announced the provisional agreement on a certification scheme for carbon removals highlighting the importance of permanent carbon removal, aligning closely with our Standard. We're excited to welcome Covalent, a groundbreaking financing platform for permanent carbon dioxide removal projects, to the Negative Emissions Platform community! Covalent is revolutionizing the landscape of carbon removal by developing a Certification Standard under the advisory of Arizona State University’s Center for Negative Carbon Emissions. Coupled with a blockchain-based registry, Covalent enables advance payments for projected carbon removals at scale. What sets Covalent apart is their commitment to legitimacy and trust. Their Certification Standard, independently validated, ensures that carbon removal projects achieve at least 1,000 years of permanence with less than 0.1% annual leakage. But the journey doesn't end here. Covalent is dedicated to continuous improvement and is currently enhancing its Certification Standard to Version 1.1, for the purposes of receiving ICROA endorsement.
