The United States has indicted Chinese national Guan Tianfeng for orchestrating a massive cyberattack in 2020 that compromised approximately 81,000 Sophos firewall devices worldwide. The vulnerability at the heart of this breach, identified as CVE-2020-12271, is a severe SQL injection flaw in Sophos XG Firewall devices with a CVSS score: 9.8, which for those of you who don’t know, is about as critical of a vulnerability as it gets.
