The client hired CPG to oversee the expansion of their existing 2-story warehouse and corporate sales and service office in Stamford, CT. This project was aimed at supporting the company’s growth and enhancing its operational capabilities by increasing space for both office functions and logistical needs. The expansion was planned in two phases, with each phase designed to accommodate the evolving requirements of our client as they continued to scale their business. Some of the success factors were: Creation of energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing building envelope integrated into the local context, Amenities including outdoor gathering spaces and indoor/outdoor dining introduced to the community, Provide direct access to daylight while introducing biophilic elements, Introduction of amenities focus on overall employee health and well-being. #CPGEmployeeSpotlight Nico, Project Director, spent the first years of his career in the public sector, overseeing large-scale projects, including bus terminals, public spaces, a university campus, and many mixed-used buildings. More recently, he has specialized in commercial design, including corporate, hospitality, education, and health care projects. With his international education background, Nico provides a global lens to our architectural and sustainable projects and a unique design perspective to our work and team. His cosmopolitan sensibility extends to his passion for global cuisine, whether it’s discovering authentic Lebanese moussaka in the neighborhoods of Barcelona or holiday dishes like fanesca in his home of Ecuador. What is your role at CPG? My primary role at CPG is to transition the design into a constructible phase. This involves focusing on the finer details of the design, including material dimensions, the hardware required, and how everything will come together during construction. I also consider the execution process, such as identifying who will carry out specific tasks. What is a recent challenge that a project presented & how did you work through that challenge? A recent challenge was matching the wood-clad ceiling to wall panels and creating hidden doors while ensuring ADA compliance. To address this, we custom-designed the wood-clad ceiling using a ceiling system and coordinated between different trades to add the wood cladding later. For the hidden doors, we explored hardware options and ultimately selected extra-large offset pivot hinges to accommodate the door's thickness while maintaining the design’s integrity.
