Passenger counts at Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) have risen above pre-pandemic levels, reflecting West Michigan’s growing population and affirming the goals of the airport's $600 million expansion project, airport officials say. Last year, GRR broke its passenger record and served 3,794,915 travelers, a 6% increase over the airport’s previous record-breaking year in 2019. Airport officials expect to exceed 2023’s travel numbers, with 2024 passenger numbers tracking 12.4% ahead of 2023’s year-to-date. “We see 12,000 to 14,000 passengers through the airport every day,” said Casey Ries, GRR’s chief asset development officer. “In Grand Rapids terms, that’s more than enough to fill the Van Andel Arena every day.” https://lnkd.in/gdCHxhRy
