📢 STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION WORKSHOP! In October 2024, the CRM-geothermal project hosted a consultation in Cornwall (UK) to gather the thoughts of local communities and other stakeholders on how dual geothermal-metal extraction projects can achieve ‘social licence to operate’ in the UK, EU and beyond. (Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eiaYZvWK). On Monday, December 16, 2024, the CRM-geothermal project team is organising another round of consultation for West Cornwall residents. Are you interested in being part of the conversation and help create a sustainable future for Cornwall and globally!? Then register and join us at: https://lnkd.in/dNuFUWvJ The consultation findings will ultimately be captured in Guidelines for Obtaining and Maintaining Social Licence to Operate, a ‘how-to’ manual currently being developed by one of the project’s partners!

Last month, the CRM-geothermal project hosted a consultation in #Cornwall (UK) to gather the thoughts of local communities and other stakeholders on how dual #geothermal-metal extraction projects can achieve ‘social licence to operate’ in the UK, EU and beyond. The consultation findings will ultimately be captured in Guidelines for Obtaining and Maintaining Social Licence to Operate, a ‘how-to’ manual currently being developed by Levin Sources, one of the project’s partners. During the consultation, five key themes emerged, offering valuable insights for shaping the guidelines around community consultation in the context of SLO for this type of project. 1️⃣ Honesty and transparency are key 2️⃣ Make your information accessible 3️⃣ Consider the community context 4️⃣ Be proactive in engaging stakeholders 5️⃣ Think beyond the project Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eiaYZvWK 📅 Attend our Consultation on good practice guidelines for geothermal – metal extraction on 16 December in Chacewater: https://lnkd.in/dNuFUWvJ 📷 Photos Geothermal Engineering Ltd

It has been a busy week for the GEL team! Last week GEL team members Claudia M., Jane Charman, Thomas O. and Poppy Edgecombe all had the pleasure of attending the 11th Geothermal Symposium, organised by the Energy Group - The Geological Society and held at Burlington house in London. The team enjoyed their time and found the talks both interesting and insightful. Our own Ryan Law presented the progress of the United Downs Deep Geothermal project and discussed our plans for the next year. Many thanks to CRM-geothermal, PUSH-IT and the Cornwall Mining Alliance for supporting us and making it possible for us to attend. Make sure to follow us so you don’t miss on the exciting developments happening here at United Downs over the coming months as we prepare to switch on the UK’s very first geothermal power plant! #Geothermalsymposium #GEL #Geothermal #Greenenergy #Greenerandcleaner #Geothermalresearch #GeothermalinCornwall
