Community Resources Network Ireland (CRNI)

Northern Ireland is set to host its first ever 🔧 Repair Week 🔧 from 3rd – 9th March 2025, an initiative which aims to encourage a repair and reuse culture throughout the region. Throughout the week, a diverse range of interactive workshops and online seminars will take place across Northern Ireland. Some events will offer direct repair services, while others will provide hands-on learning opportunities to help people develop the skills to repair textiles, bikes , electrical goods, and furniture, extending the lifespan of their belongings.  The Repair Week initiative was introduced in London in 2020 by ReLondon, and the success of the inaugural event has led to its expansion to various cities across the UK. The campaign is led by the Northern Ireland Resources Network (NIRN) and funded by Department of Agriculture and Rural development, Northern Ireland Government through the Carrier Bag Levy. Businesses, community groups and individuals are all encouraged to participate in Repair Week to discover the many environmental benefits of repairing. This week’s National Social Enterprise Conference marked a milestone for the circular economy in Ireland. For the first time, Ireland's National Social Enterprise Policy ‘Trading for Impact’ highlights the circular economy as key to advancing climate action through social enterprise activity. CRNI facilitated a discussion along with members Cycle Up, Restore, and Rediscovery Centre, on how social enterprises are playing a leading role in the green transition. We talked about the need for sustainable funding, accessible space, and attracting talent to fully unlock their potential. Last week we hosted our annual CRNI member conference in @airfieldestate, joined by CRNI members from all over Ireland and a diverse collection of collaborators to explore and vision the #FutureLOOP for circular communities. We're excited to share a preview of what was cultivated through our community conversations, that led us into an energising afternoon of discussion and collective thinking, captured by Leah Donoghue. We have lots of valuable insights and learnings that we look forward to sharing over the coming weeks. There were so many powerful contributions from the day, but one that stuck with us was a quote read out by Niamh O'Carroll, whose grandfather produced the RTE radio show Making and Mending, over 50 years ago, which featured a Q&A segment answering listener questions sent in by mail. It's a poetic reminder that we hold so many might skills we hold to repair.

CRNI is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to project manage the current phase of the Virtual Trade Fair. As Project Manager you will be responsible for maintaining and promoting the Fair, driving engagement with the site by procurement decision-makers, organising events to promote the Fair, and making recommendations for the Fair’s continued development.
