About us
Crouse Health, with over 3,100 employees, is one of Central New York's largest employers. We serve more than 24,000 inpatients, 82,000 emergency services patients and more than 150,000 outpatients a year from a 16-county area in Central and Northern New York. Crouse is the region’s largest provider of maternity care services, averaging nearly 4,000 deliveries annually, and is the state-designated regional referral center for high-risk neonatal intensive care (NICU) services. Crouse also operates one of the longest-running and largest ambulatory surgery programs in the U.S. in two surgery centers near the main hospital complex. Phase 1 construction on the Witting Surgical Center, a three-floor, state-of-the-art facility, was completed in late 2010 with the opening of 11 new operating rooms. An additional three ORs opened in late 2011, completing this $50 million project. Other specialties include comprehensive diagnostic and interventional cardiac care (featuring the region’s only pediatric cardiac catheterization program); surgical services (including the latest advancements in bariatric and robotic surgery); orthopedics; neurosciences/stroke care (Crouse is a nationally certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, a NYS-designated stroke center and the first 'Gold Plus' stroke hospital in Syracuse); oncology; and the region's only hospital-based chemical dependency treatment services. Crouse Health also operates the Pomeroy College of Nursing, providing critical nursing education to more than 300 students annually.

A #CrouseLittleFighters update… “Elliot was born as a preemie at 4lbs 15oz. He was born at 37 weeks after my water broke at 35 weeks. At about 25 weeks we found out that Elliot had a genetic heart condition called coarctation of aorta and that the left side of his heart was smaller than the right side. For weeks prior to giving birth we were preparing to go to Rochester for Elliot to undergo open heart surgery for his condition. Every cardiology appointment kept confirming his condition. Once Elliot was born, the NICU team took him right away so they could perform the sonogram of his heart and administer medication as necessary. Our time with him right after being born was limited because of this, but we knew it was what had to be done. After his 8 day stay in the NICU and 5 sonograms later, they confirmed that, miraculously, his heart condition was no longer present. There is no medical reason for how it healed itself. They told us he really was a miracle case and to enjoy our healthy boy. Elliot is now 9 months and as happy as can be! He enjoys anything with a motor and sitting on the front porch watching cars go by.” Thank you to Samantha and Cody for sharing their Little Fighter story with us.
