Remembering APS Martyrs – 16th December 2014! Today, we bow our heads in remembrance of one of the darkest days in our nation’s history—the tragedy at Army Public School, Peshawar. It’s been 10 years since that heart-wrenching morning when we lost over 140 innocent lives, most of them young students, to an act of unspeakable terror. The bravery of those children and their teachers, who faced unimaginable horrors, remains a source of inspiration and a reminder of the strength that resides within us even in the face of immense tragedy. As we remember the martyrs of APS, let us reflect on the sacrifices made and the lessons we must carry forward: - The importance of unity in the fight against extremism. - The value of peace and education as the foundation of a prosperous future. - The resilience of a nation that refuses to bow to fear. Allah (SWT) promises immense rewards for those who practice patience. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger." – Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 76, Hadith 135 – Sahih Muslim, Book 45, Hadith 100 In another hadith, the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Patience is a light." – Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 223 As Allah says in the Quran: “Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” – (Quran, 2:153) "Trust the process, for Allah’s timing is always perfect." Life often unfolds in ways we don’t anticipate, leaving us questioning the delays or detours along the way. But remember, every moment is part of Allah’s divine plan. What may seem like a setback is often a setup for something greater. Trusting the process means having faith that Allah’s wisdom surpasses our understanding. His timing is flawless, and He knows what is best for us. So, keep striving, stay patient, and believe that what is meant for you will come at the right time, in the best way. Jummah Mubarak! On this blessed day, let us reflect on the concept of Tawakkul (trust in Allah). Tawakkul means placing complete trust in Allah's plan while taking the necessary steps to achieve our goals. It is a balance between effort and reliance on Allah’s decree. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) beautifully explained Tawakkul in the following hadith: “If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: They go out in the morning hungry and return full in the evening.” (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2344, Sahih Ibn Majah 4164, also recorded in Musnad Ahmad). Meaning of the Hadith: This hadith emphasizes two things: 1- Effort: Like the birds that leave their nests in search of food. 2- Reliance on Allah: Knowing that sustenance is ultimately from Him. True Tawakkul is about working hard while having faith that Allah will provide what is best for us, even if it may differ from our expectations. On this Jummah, let us renew our trust in Allah and strive with sincerity in our endeavors. May He bless us with the strength to take action and the peace to accept His divine will.
