  • Congratulations to the 67th Citizens Police Academy (CPA) on their graduation! Over the past several weeks, participants explored the inner workings of the College Station Police Department. From Chief Billy Couch’s opening remarks to engaging sessions on patrol, investigations, K9, SWAT, hostage negotiations, air operations with our drone team, and much more, this program offered a unique and educational hands-on experience. Attendees toured the department, participated in simulated scenarios, and learned about specialized units like CSTEP, dedicated to keeping the Northgate Entertainment District safe. The program wrapped up with a celebratory banquet, complete with a catered fajita dinner and closing comments from Chief Couch, where graduates received plaques and certificates. If you’re local to College Station and interested in participating in a future CPA program, check the comments for more details. Thank you to everyone who made this academy a success, and congratulations once again to our graduates! #CollegeStationPD #CommunityEngagement #Leadership

  • Congratulations to Officer John Lightfoot, who was awarded the Outstanding Service Award for his exceptional commitment to proactive policing and continuous self-improvement. In 2023, Officer Lightfoot sought to enhance his skills as a Field Training Officer (FTO) and made significant progress in that role. Entering 2024, he committed to becoming a more proactive officer, focusing on identifying and addressing criminal activity within the community. To achieve this, he increasingly engaged in vehicle stops, pedestrian contacts, and surveillance operations, all while continually seeking ways to refine his skills and improve his effectiveness. Throughout 2024, Officer Lightfoot demonstrated outstanding initiative and persistence in developing and acting on investigative leads. His patience, thorough intelligence gathering, and collaborative efforts led to a successful narcotics investigation, culminating in the recovery of illicit drugs, stolen property, and valuable information that will assist law enforcement in targeting larger criminal networks. Officer Lightfoot's proactive approach and dedication to serving the community make a meaningful impact, exemplifying the qualities deserving of this award. #CollegeStationPD #LawEnforcement #ServiceExcellence #Leadership

  • Congratulations to Officer Erik Ellgard, who received the Outstanding Service Award for his dedication, persistence, and leadership in two complex investigations, demonstrating his exceptional commitment to law enforcement. Throughout 2023 and early 2024, Officer Ellgard consistently went above and beyond his duties as a patrol officer, taking primary responsibility for high-risk cases and working tirelessly to see them through to successful conclusions. His willingness to take on difficult assignments, follow up on leads, and collaborate with specialized units like SWAT was key to closing these cases and ensuring public safety. What sets Officer Ellgard apart is not only his vast experience but also his determination to mentor and support his colleagues. His extensive knowledge of investigative procedures, including executing search warrants and locating suspects, led to the successful arrests of multiple individuals involved in serious crimes. Officer Ellgard's unwavering commitment to justice and his ability to balance investigative work with his daily patrol duties exemplify why he is a deserving recipient of this award. #CollegeStationPD #LawEnforcement #ServiceExcellence #Leadership
