The Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians is a professional medical society dedicated to maintaining high standards of family medicine representing 600 family physicians, residents and medical students. CAFP provides members with practice-based support, education, government relations and public relations services. We advocate for family physicians and their patients while working to recruit more family physicians to care for patients across Connecticut. The mission of CAFP is to promote excellence in health care and to improve the health of the people of Connecticut through the advancement of the art and science of Family Medicine, the specialty of Family Medicine and the professional growth of Family Physicians.

With great sadness we share the news of the passing of Sandi Brooks, wife of the late Dr. Neil Brooks, in a tragic car accident on Christmas Eve. Many of of our members met Sandi at the many events she attended with Neil. It is so sad to lose them both so suddenly in the past two months. Our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time, especially their son David Brooks, his wife Jennifer, and their daughter, Emma. From the American Academy of Family Physicians: Express Disappointment with Congress on 2.8% to Medicare Physician Payment Congress recently passed a government funding bill that failed to provide any relief to offset the 2.8% cut to Medicare physician payment set to go into effect on January 1, 2025. This is despite a prior version of the legislation that included a modest 2.5% increase to physician payment for one-year.
