Museum websites and strategies that extend the reach and impact of collections, programs, and resources.

About us

Cuberis designs and develops dynamic, beautiful, and flexible websites for museums. We utilize a Low-Code/No-Code WordPress framework. Until recently, custom museum websites with dynamically related collections, exhibitions, events, and blogs required lots of custom code. But today’s WordPress platform with its abundant supporting frameworks, plugins, and integrations can be deployed with little to no custom code.

🆘 Measuring the Value of Plugin Support… I frequently share insights on the many benefits of Low-Code/No-Code development. 🧱  Low-Code/No-Code developers provide immense value to their clients through their deep familiarity with a wide range of tools, understanding their strengths and weaknesses, and knowing how to configure them effectively. Another crucial advantage these developers bring is their experience working with the support teams of the tools they rely on. ⚙️ Low-Code/No-Code websites often involve many moving parts. Plugin developers may introduce changes or overlook bugs that affect how these tools function on a website. When issues arise, reaching out to the plugin’s support team is essential. The quality of support varies widely. Some plugin developers offer excellent service, with quick response times and a genuine commitment to resolving problems. Others fall short. Experienced Low-Code/No-Code developers know which tools come with reliable behind-the-scenes support—a critical factor in successfully leveraging these revolutionary platforms. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

  • 💡 Low-code/no-code isn't just for websites—it's transforming workflows everywhere! Here's how Make.com + ChatGPT saved weeks of manual work by automating metadata extraction for 1,500+ biographies. 🚀 Join the revolution! #lowcode #nocode #automation #wordpress #museum

❤️ More Low-Code/No-Code Tools We Love (Besides WordPress/Elementor) Our low-code/no-code website framework is built primarily on WordPress and Elementor. However, the low-code/no-code revolution has transformed more than just website development. For example, Make.com is a popular automation platform that offers an impressive drag-and-drop user interface, enabling very complex, multi-step, multi-platform automations. 🎖️ A client recently lost biographical metadata from a collection of over 1,500 military biographies. They had the original Word documents with the biography text, but there was no metadata to associate important details such as branch of service and rank that are used among their faceted search options. 🤖 Using Make.com, we were able to pass these paragraphs through an automation using ChatGPT’s API and a detailed prompt to extract all these details from the text into a Google Sheet, from which we were able to import them back into WordPress. A couple of hours spent setting up a Make automation replaced what would otherwise have been weeks of manual data entry. Everywhere you look, low-code/no-code is revolutionizing how we work. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

  • 🎯 What happens when a plugin gets abandoned? Here's a deep dive into balancing the pros and cons of Low-Code/No-Code solutions vs. custom code. Even with occasional challenges, the flexibility and cost-efficiency of #LowCode/#NoCode wins. 🚀 #WordPress #Museums #DigitalInnovation

What if a plugin gets abandoned? 🧱 The Low-Code/No-Code philosophy leverages existing tools rather than reinventing capabilities with custom code. Like any development approach, it comes with trade-offs. One key trade-off is the lack of control over the development path of the tools you rely on. Sometimes plugin developers stop maintaining their products, requiring us to find alternatives. That’s why we prioritize professionally supported plugins over free ones, which are more prone to abandonment. 🌇 However, even professionally supported plugins can get sunset. When this happens, there’s added support time needed to replace the outdated plugin with a newer option. The good news? The WordPress ecosystem is so robust that replacements are almost always available. While clients bear the cost of the time required for these transitions—along with updating any pages or features using the older plugin—this cost must be compared to the alternative: Custom-built features not only cost more initially but also require ongoing maintenance, with clients shouldering all of those expenses. 🚀 All things considered, even when a plugin issue arises, the costs and flexibility of Low-Code/No-Code solutions are still far superior to the custom-code approach. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

  • Plugins for your plugins? 🤔 The WordPress ecosystem is full of surprises! Addons for Your Addons ⚙️ The WordPress ecosystem is so vast that many of its most popular plugins develop ecosystems of their own, attracting developers who create addons for these addons. One example I frequently use in museum website development is ACF Extended, which as its name suggests extends the capabilities of the Advanced Custom Fields plugin. ACF is an essential plugin for custom WordPress development, and it includes an important relationship field type. 🔄 Relationship fields allow us to connect post types, such as linking an artist content type to a collection object type. This makes it possible to associate artists with their respective objects seamlessly. ACF Extended takes this functionality to the next level by making relationship fields bi-directional. When you link an artist to an object, the object is automatically updated to reflect its connection to the artist. Bi-directional relationship fields are a game changer for building advanced, dynamic museum websites. And with this addon for an addon, we can create these complex relationships without writing a single line of custom code. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

🤸♂️Flexibility and Complexity I often remind prospective clients that flexibility and complexity have an inverse relationship. As a system offers more options, flexibility increases—but so does complexity. In previous posts, I’ve shared techniques for managing and reducing complexity. Among them, personal support stands out as the most critical factor. 🧱 Being available to help clients when they need it is the key to unlocking the immense potential of Low-Code/No-Code development. This shift redefines the core skills for web development—from coding expertise to client interaction and support. Whether it’s revisiting tool training or implementing updates on their behalf, timely and thoughtful service unleashes the full power of Low-Code/No-Code frameworks. Low-Code/No-Code development is less about coding and more about caring. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/eNH-XEmm #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

🔧 Knowing Which Tool to Use The WordPress Low-Code/No-Code ecosystem is so abundant that its success presents a unique challenge: too many options can make it difficult to choose the right one. We operate in an environment of overwhelming possibilities. 🧱 A key responsibility of a Low-Code/No-Code developer is understanding the strengths and weaknesses of various tools to select the best one for each job. 🖼️ Take galleries, for example—a common feature on museum websites.  There are dozens of plugins for creating galleries, each with distinct approaches and features. Some excel in dynamic image queries, while others shine with extensive styling options. This expertise extends to every aspect of a Low-Code/No-Code site. By mastering the available options, we ensure our clients benefit from the ecosystem’s richness without being overwhelmed by its complexity. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

👀 Seeing is Understanding… In my thirty years of website development, I've witnessed countless technological developments. Yet, one fundamental truth has remained constant: 🧩 Websites are complex, non-linear objects with various states and conditions. Consequently, discussing websites—especially with non-technical clients—has always been challenging. I've previously written about our prototyping methodology and how we build functioning website prototypes instead of wireframing. This approach stems from a simple insight: clients need to see what we're discussing to truly understand. This dynamic is equally relevant when adding new content or functionality to a live site. 🧱 The flexibility of a Low-Code/No-Code platform, particularly its built-in display conditions, allows us to respond to client requests by immediately doing the work. We can show a live preview, quickly incorporate feedback, and then seamlessly implement the changes. This method eliminates unproductive communication cycles and accelerates the development process. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

  • Speed meets simplicity! 🚀 Discover how caching transforms Low-Code/No-Code platforms into high-performance powerhouses, and learn a quick tip to navigate common quirks during edits. Ready to optimize your website? Let’s dive in! 💡 #LowCode #NoCode #WebPerformance #WordPress

The Key to Fast Low-Code/No-Code Websites 🧱 It’s true—Low-Code/No-Code platforms come with more code overhead compared to lean, custom-coded sites. However, the unparalleled flexibility they offer more than makes up for this trade-off. Still, all that extra code, designed to meet diverse needs, requires performance optimization. The most effective tool in our performance arsenal? Caching. What is caching? Caching allows the server to pre-process pages and store them, ready for quick delivery when requested. Even pages with complex logic and large images can load rapidly thanks to caching. The downside of caching 🪞 The only annoyance? When you edit a cached page, you might still see the older version instead of your most recent changes. This is a common issue, and in our experience, it’s responsible for at least half of the “bugs” clients report. A simple workaround If you encounter this, just add a question mark followed by any string of characters to the page URL. For example: YourWebsite[dot]com/page_youre_working_on?sdfs. The question mark signals the server that you’re requesting a page with a parameter (even if it doesn’t exist). This forces the server to bypass the cached version and deliver a fresh version of the page. Caching is the key to speed—just be aware of its quirks and learn to navigate the curveballs it might throw your way during edits! 🚀 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums

  • Low-Code/No-Code platforms revolutionize web development by empowering clients to manage updates with ease while enabling developers to handle urgent changes swiftly. These tools eliminate delays caused by traditional workflows, offering unparalleled efficiency and flexibility for both minor edits and major updates.

Time is of the Essence... 🧱 A Low-Code/No-Code framework empowers clients to independently add or update content on their websites without relying on a developer. This flexibility is invaluable. However, because clients don’t use these tools daily, even simple tasks can take them longer compared to developers who work with them all the time. 🚨 When clients have urgent content updates—whether it’s extensive or basic—and need it added immediately, they can simply send it over. Our team consistently impresses clients with how quickly we handle these requests. The reason? The efficiency and simplicity of our Low-Code/No-Code platform. ⏱️ In the past, even minor updates often required a programmer’s assistance. Programmer availability was limited, and their task lists were typically packed. Custom coding also demands intense focus, so handling smaller, ad hoc requests meant interrupting their workflow. As a result, even straightforward updates were often delayed, waiting in a queue. Low-Code/No-Code frameworks change the game. These tools are far less disruptive to multitask with, allowing us to step away briefly and handle urgent updates without losing momentum on larger projects. Ultimately, Low-Code/No-Code platforms provide value in two powerful ways: they allow clients to manage updates themselves with ease, or they enable developers to deliver rapid, efficient solutions when needed. 🎺 Welcome to the Low-Code/No-Code Revolution! https://lnkd.in/gsGbNyCX #lowcode #nocode #wordpress #museums
