Last week, I had the privilege of joining a gathering of brilliant minds from the insurance and healthcare industries to discuss the transformative power of AI. Hosted by Curacel (YC 22), a leading AI infrastructure service provider, the event delved into a range of exciting topics. Panel discussions covered a wide spectrum of AI's potential, including: * Leveraging technology for faster claims and improved care in healthcare. * The impact of AI on the future of motor insurance. * Utilizing technology to expand insurance penetration. * The future of insurance in the AI era. In my fireside chat with John Dada which was the last session of the day, we had a very engaging session as a single panellist, where I focused on building a strong foundation for AI adoption. I emphasized the importance of quality data, a robust data strategy, and a data fabric to unify all sources of data to maximize the benefits of AI. I also emphasized the need to address concerns about AI's impact on jobs and society, stressing the importance of awareness, right approach to AI adoption, upskilling and reskilling the workforce as well as leveraging on AI legislation to mitigate the possible impact of social security. AI is rapidly reshaping industries, and insurance is no exception. The top five technology trends for 2024, including AI Governance (driven by increased adoption and the EU AI act 2023), Edge Computing (driven by increased demands for timely processing and TAT), Generative AI (driven by rising adoption of ChatGPT and numerous use cases on Gen AI in various fields), Data Privacy and Protection (driven by ethics, rightful use of data, and security), and Augmented Analytics, highlight the significant role AI will play in the future. I tried also to illustrate various use cases of how the future of insurance would be transformed using each of the trend.   It was an awesome opportunity to connect with industry experts and contribute to the discussion on AI's potential. Curacel (YC 22)'s commitment to driving AI adoption in Africa is commendable. AI is here, and it's time to embrace it as a tool to augment human capabilities, rather than as a competitor. During lunch break , there was a networking session and a serve yourself buffet, mehnnn the foods where mouth watering. The myth that Insurance is a scam was debunked and I should say - Insurance isn't a scam!!! You should get a policy today! During the fireside chat, Mr Dunni Audu Oladokun (FIIM) shared 5 key technological tools to infuse into the Insurance industry • Edge computing • Generative AI • Ai governance • Augmented Analytics • Internet of things.
