Yesterday marked the conclusion of the 2024 EMEA Cash Cycle & Payments Seminar. A pair of excellent keynote presentations from Jason Masai of M-PESA Africa and the Federal Reserve Board’s Brian Lawler set the tone for a day filled with more engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and impactful networking. On the cash side, Wednesday's sessions delved further into contingency and resiliency planning (keeping cash circulating during crises), the use of data analytics across the global cash cycle, what the future holds for the CIT industry, and another round of technical innovation sessions showcasing the latest advancements from our sponsors. A terrific panel led by the Bank of Namibia, which served to bridge the cash and payments tracks, examined the intersection of cash and digital payments in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. The parallel payments track (a first for this event) highlighted the continuing overlap between the cash and digital payment worlds. Panel discussions explored South Africa's evolving payments landscape, how to make cross-border payments faster and cheaper (a major priority for the region), social engineering fraud, and an important session focusing on the role of women in payments – now and in the future. To wrap things up, a closing keynote from Stefan Hardt, Director General Cash Management at Deutsche Bundesbank, explored how Germany is balancing the changing landscape with the need to preserve access to cash, something many nations are grappling with. It was a truly incredible few days here in Cape Town, and this is one of (if not the) largest gatherings this event has ever seen! To our speakers: thank you for sharing your expertise and vision. To our sponsors: your unwavering support made this event possible. And to our delegates: your engagement and curiosity brought the program to life. And a HUGE thank you to the South African Reserve Bank for its support in helping to prepare, promote, and deliver this year's program! We look forward to continuing these important discussions as we shape the future of the cash and payments industry together. Until next time! #EMEACCPS2024 #EMEACCS2024 #iccos #Cash #CashManagement #FutureofCash #Centralbanks #CurrencyNews #FinancialInclusion #CashCycle #CommercialBanks #RiskManagement #CashManagement #PaymentsIndustry

After Monday's pre-seminar workshops, the 2024 EMEA Cash Cycle & Payments Seminar officially got underway on Tuesday as the South African Reserve Bank's Yolanda Vatsha delivered an opening keynote address welcoming attendees to Cape Town. 💥And what a day it was, as the seminar's dual-track agenda brought rich insights on the cash and payments developments most relevant to the broader EMEA region. 🎉The 2024 Americas Cash Cycle & Payments Seminar got underway here in New Orleans yesterday! We kicked things off with our special LatAm Day, conducted entirely in Spanish for premium regional networking. Our own Gonzalo Santamaria welcomed delegates, with discussions led throughout the morning by Ángel Celio Sandoval (GSI GRUPO DE SEGURIDAD INTEGRAL S.A. DE C.V.), Luis Rafael Bacco Lozano (OXXO), Alejandro Malamud (Permaquim S.A.), Carlos Molina (GLORY), Cirilo Marcos Ayling (Cirilo Ayling SAIC), Eloisa Cadenas (Monetae.io). The programming continued after lunch with an introductory workshop on ‘AI for Central Banks & Financial Institutions.’ Hosted by Peter Tapling, APRP of PTap Advisory, LLC, the workshop dug into the myriad ways that AI is primed to transform the financial sector, such as risk management and fraud detection, explored the regulatory and ethical implications of AI in finance, and examined real examples of how central banks and FIs are already deploying AI. We capped the day with a lovely welcome reception as delegates caught up with old friends and new and shared a laugh and a beverage before the full program commenced the next day! 🍷 🍻 #AmericasCCS2024 #cash #payments #networking #AI #LatAm
