Did you know that the clean energy sector has experienced significant growth, adding over 150,000 jobs in 2023, largely driven by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)? The U.S. now has nearly 3.5 million clean energy jobs, with the South leading job growth, adding over 54,000 roles. Key areas include clean vehicles, renewable energy, and battery storage. Notably, Southern states are benefiting despite Republican opposition to the bill. California, Florida, and Texas top the list in total jobs, while Alabama, Kentucky, and Oklahoma saw the fastest growth rates. A big breakthrough in sustainable cleaner fuel by researchers from Baylor University! The researchers have developed a revolutionary Swirl Burst (SB) injector that allows for the ultra-clean combustion of glycerol/methanol biofuel blends. This innovative technology significantly reduces emissions of harmful pollutants, such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, without requiring costly fuel pre-processing. It enhances the efficiency of burning viscous biofuels, transforming glycerol, a biodiesel byproduct, into a viable energy source. New funding opportunity supporting clean water! The Biden-Harris Administration has introduced new regulations requiring drinking water systems nationwide to locate and replace lead pipes within the next decade. In New Mexico, 700 water systems will be impacted, with $24.9 million in funding allocated by the EPA to support lead pipe inventory and replacement. Of this, 49% will go to underserved communities as grants or principal forgiveness. This funding is part of a broader effort to ensure safe drinking water for all.
