CT Innovation Day Milwaukee – AI in Manufacturing Edition is a wrap! A huge thank you to our speakers for bringing their expertise to the table: Tim Dickson, CDIO at Regal Rexnord Charlie Manson, Director, Customer Journeys & Relationship Management at EnerSys Mykhailo Maksymenko, VP, Salesforce Practice Head at Customertimes David Manske, VP IT, Enterprise Architecture, Strategy & Digital Enablement at Clarios Kathy Henrich, CEO at MKE Tech Hub Coalition Sven Krause, President at Partex Daniel Kornev, CEO at Sentuis Atalia Horenshtien, Head of Data and AI Practice, North America at Customertimes Your insights sparked meaningful conversations about AI’s real impact in manufacturing—from breaking down legacy barriers to driving efficiency through machine learning, computer vision, and digital twins. Key takeaways: AI isn’t the future, it’s happening now. Companies are using AI to optimize quoting, quality control, workforce training, and knowledge management. The biggest challenge? Getting buy-in. Aligning AI initiatives with business goals is just as critical as solving technical hurdles. What’s next? AI-powered automation, XR technologies, and intelligent agents redefining how manufacturing operates.   We were also honored to hear from Leroy Butler, Green Bay Packers legend and Hall of Fame, on leadership in times of transformation. His message on resilience, adaptability, and teamwork couldn’t be more relevant for those leading AI-driven change. To everyone who joined us, thank you! If you missed the event or want to explore the discussions further, check out https://shorturl.at/FkJ9d   Let’s keep the momentum going! Photos/Videos from Frank Carmona Ramírez

  • Is AI going to eat SaaS? Or is it just changing the game? The rise of AI-native solutions is forcing SaaS companies to rethink their models, but does this mean AI will replace SaaS—or will it redefine it? Our Co-founder and Managing Partner, Max Votek, dives into the shift toward Vertical AI, where deep industry expertise, built-in compliance, and pre-loaded best practices are driving massive growth.

𝐈𝐬 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐚𝐒 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝? 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐞. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞-𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐬 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞. Two recent headlines caught my eye: "𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐚𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬" – the argument that generic platforms are done, and specialized, domain-focused software is rising. "𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐈 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐚𝐒?" – the whole Nadella vs. Benioff debate about whether AI agents will wipe out SaaS as we know it. I don’t see these ideas as contradictory. In fact, they’re two sides of the same coin. AI agents are great for automating repetitive tasks - no one’s going to miss clicking 15 buttons in a row. But when everything becomes "auto," the real question becomes: Who actually understands the deep workflows, compliance, and industry quirks? A generic AI agent isn’t going to guess the regulatory needs of pharma or the supply-chain intricacies of manufacturing. That’s where vertical AI takes over. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐈: 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞. Years of expertise can’t be replaced with a quick prompt. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭-𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. The new “industry OS” will ship with regulations baked in. 𝐍𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The best practices come pre-loaded. Meanwhile, AI agents do threaten the old SaaS strongholds — complex integrations, massive datasets, and walled gardens. But that’s a good thing. It opens the door for domain experts to build better, leaner, and more cost-effective tools. Expect consolidation, but also a rise of specialized SaaS that knows exactly how a CFO in retail thinks, or how clinical trials actually run. AI might reshape the UX, but vertical players who get the "business logic behind the button" will win. Some 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 $𝟐.𝟓𝐌 𝐌𝐑𝐑 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 in niche AI verticals. For instance, companies like DeepL (founded in 2009, DeepL offers a neural machine translation platform supporting over 30 languages. In May 2024, the company raised $300 million, valuing it at $2 billion) and Codeium (an AI-powered coding assistant established in 2021, Codeium provides real-time code suggestions and integrates with various development environments. In August 2024, it reached unicorn status after raising $150 million in Series C funding, valuing the company at $1.25 billion) have rapidly achieved significant financial milestones by focusing on specialized AI solutions. If you have deep domain expertise, this is your moment. Forget generic integrations — team up with an AI-savvy dev and build something that just works for your industry. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞? 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥-𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐈, 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐚𝐒?
