  • There’s no better way to wrap up the year than with an amazing staff Christmas party! Thank you to our Social Club for hosting a brilliant evening in the Long Chim Courtyard at State Buildings. We were treated to Thai-inspired canapes, a live cooking station and delicious hand crafter cocktails. It was a fantastic opportunity to unite our team, with staff traveling from as far as Broome and Bunbury to celebrate together. The chance to connect in person, share stories, and strengthen bonds made the event all the more special.  Hannah Kelly, Ellen Toczylowski, Jake Tana, Jordan Del Dosso, Ali Qamar #ChristmasParty #TeamCelebration #SocialClub #FestiveSeason

  • Cygnet West is pleased to announce the successful sale of the historic Terminus Hotel in Fremantle, which was acquired for $4.5 million by Coaxial Ventures, led by philanthropist Nicola Forrest.   The heritage-listed property, built in 1887, attracted significant interest and competitive bids from a diverse range of investors, highlighting the increased demand for character buildings in strategic locations.    “The Terminus Hotel sale is a testament to the demand for properties in the Fremantle City Centre, specifically those with character”, says Tory Packer. “Heritage properties like this appeal to many buyers and represent opportunities to preserve legacy while creating unique spaces for occupiers.” Henry Vu said, “It was great to achieve such a strong sales outcome for the State and we are excited for what should be a great final use for the building”. #Fremantle #Sale #PerthProperty #RealEstate #Investment

  • There is no doubt that West Australian’s are feeling the heat from WA’s skyrocketing construction costs. Today, Claire Tyrrell of Business News reported that construction costs in Western Australia have skyrocketed by 11.1% in just 12 months, far outpacing the rest of the country. Arcadis forecasted a rise of 42.8% by 2028 in their Australian Construction Market View – we’re entering uncharted territory. As project managers, developers, and owners, this volatility puts us in a challenging position. Major projects like the $5B Perth Airport and $1.8B Women’s Hospital are fueling demand but also stretching resources thin. So, what can we do? 🔸 Plan for the unexpected: We need to embrace proactive risk management – build contingencies into every aspect of our projects. 🔸 Collaborate more: With prices rising, closer partnerships with contractors and suppliers will be key to staying on track. 🔸 Smart Spending: Working closely with consultants and clients, value engineering can help us trim costs without sacrificing quality. 🔸 Proactive cost management: Keeping project budgets and timelines up to date and adaptable is critical. 🔸 Innovate: Exploring sustainable, efficient building techniques can help control costs while meeting ambitious housing targets. 🔸 Tackle Skills Shortages: Investing in workforce development is key. 🔸 Balance Investments: We need to ensure government projects don't overshadow private investments. Collaboration is crucial. It’s a tough time for the WA construction sector, but by staying agile and working together, we can still deliver great results. Selecting the right project management team is crucial for the success of your project during these times. The right team can drive your project to success with their expertise and value creation. • We’re proud of Teá Webb and Ruby Moors for organising a Cygnet West office food drive for Foodbank WA, ahead of the festive season.   Teá was inspired following a recent ‘Hungry for Change’ Twilight Talk hosted by Committee for Perth. At the event, we learnt that on average, Foodbank are supplying 900 meals per day to WA families.   Thank you to our staff who have been so generous with their donations! We hope this helps to bring some festive cheer to those in need.   Imran Mohiuddin, Melanie Bridge #HungryforChange #Foodbank #Donation Foodbank Australia
