Drum roll please - presenting the new Film Commissioner of Dallas, Katie Schuck! Katie joins the Visit Dallas team after more than eight years with the Savannah Regional Film Commission, a division of the Savannah Economic Development Authority, where she most recently served as its Assistant Director. In her former role, Schuck location scouted for many major productions, including “Captain America: Brave New World” (Marvel), "May December" (Netflix) and “Manhunt" (Apple TV+). Schuck earned a Master of Fine Arts in film and television production from Savannah College of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Art in film and television production from DeSales University. She starts on December 9. Welcome to the team, Katie!

Happy Thanksgiving! We're going to highlight a Thanksgiving movie that was made here in Dallas! Free Birds, starring Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, and Amy Poehler, released in 2013 and was made by Dallas based Reel FX! It follows two turkeys who travel back to the first Thanksgiving to prevent turkeys from being domesticated and eaten by humans. You can rent it on Apple TV or stream it with Paramount+!
