Can you see her teeth? This is the RSS Barracuda during her recent trials. The vessel is being deployed with the Suriname military, where she will protect merchant shipping from piracy, as well as providing security for offshore infrastructure and fishing grounds. RSS Barracuda is a Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 4008 Patrol – a highly versatile vessel. Her Sea Axe hull enables her to cut effortlessly through the water with minimal slamming, enabling optimal seakeeping performance at high speeds, in all waters, lowering resistance and maximising efficiency. #Damen #shipbuilding #maritimeindustry

How is your weekend? 💙 We had a very special day today when we welcomed Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Orange to our yard in Vlissingen, in the south-west of the Netherlands. The Princess was there to perform the christening ceremony of the new Combat Support Ship (CSS) Den Helder that we are building for the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN). The vessel forms part of the navy’s ambitious fleet renewal programme. She will operate alongside the HNLMS Karel Doorman, the Joint Support Ship (JSS) that we delivered in 2015. The CSS Den Helder will restore the RNLN’s maritime supply capacity, playing a crucial role in enabling Dutch naval capabilities in the coming years. #Damen #naval #princess #ceremony

Looking to the next generation. Crane operator and forklift driver Michael Chirino has been at Damen Shiprepair Curacao for 32 years – and why not? After all, as he says, “I love my work!” He’s coming up to retirement age, but Michael has no plans to leave the yard behind. He would like to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. A generation that includes his son, Michel, a mechanic at the yard. Building on lasting relationships. At Damen, we take great pride in the fact that we have long-term relationships with so many of our clients. A good example is marine survey specialist GEOxyz, a regular visitor to our Vlissingen repair yard. Recently, the company’s GEO OCEAN VII called the yard’s dock number 1 for a scope of work requiring retrieval of the tail shaft, removal of the propeller and modifications to the moon pool, amongst other things. The great collaboration between our team and the client’s project team was a key factor in achieving successful project completion according to a tight schedule. #Damen #shiprepair #shipbuilding

Last Thursday, Rossilini’s Four-10 and Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen (DSV) achieved a significant milestone. Under the gaze of one of the Netherlands’ greatest admirals, a formal contract signing ceremony took place at the Maritiem Muzeeum Zeeland, where both parties officially agreed to collaborate. This state-of-the-art Research and Expedition Vessel seamlessly integrates cutting-edge marine technology with advanced research facilities, setting a new benchmark in the industry. One-stop-ship-shop. We recently installed five of our Marine NOX Reduction Systems to Van Oord’s Nexus. With the systems in place, the cable laying vessel – a Damen Offshore Carrier 8500 – is operating with up to 80% lower NOX emissions. The project is a great example of teamwork at Damen. Calling upon the expertise of teams throughout the group, we were able to offer the client a comprehensive solution including production, engineering and installation. Man & boy 👨🏻 Aged just 15, Jos van Woerkum embarked on a career at Damen that was to span almost half a century. Having quickly worked his way to management level, much of his time has been spent directing Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld – where he now works together with son Jeroen.
