  • Its finally here, the wrap up video celebrating DFA, New Zealand's fabulous ‘Dancing With Our Stars’ event. What an amazing night, with some epic moves displayed by all on the dance floor.    Thanks to our special guest judges Claire Chitham, Sarah Michelle Stuart, antonia Prebble, @Lance Savali and Dancing with the Stars professionals Kristie & Jonny Williams.   Lastly a big thank you for all the partners, sponsors and private donations that made the night possible. Crave Global, Glass House Morningside, Port of Auckland, Candidex, Suntory Oceania, Griffin's Snacks, Smile Dealers, @CS & Co and Odd Socks Production.   As a non for profit charity, DFA relies on support from organisations and donations to put on dynamic events for our community with unique abilities. We are currently searching for funding for 2024 and beyond to help create more of these special occasions for Kiwi’s. We would love to hear from any organisations that may be interested in supporting one of our events or as a partnership sponsor, please get in touch.

  • We absolutely love this campaign. “There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more" - Robert M. Hensel.

Our negative assumptions about people with Down syndrome can lead us to treat them in such a way that these assumptions become reality. In sociology, this is called a ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’. Why not reverse our perspectives? If we have positive assumptions about people with Down syndrome, we'll give them more opportunities in their schools, workplaces, relationships and activities. And maybe these positive assumptions will become reality. #AssumeThatICan #SmallTheAgency

  • So good to catch up with this legend last week @mr_a_plus_michael. I’ve had a really good time getting to know Michael over the last year, and we’re thrilled that he is going to be an advisor to our Dance For Abilities board moving forward. His advisory role will serve to give us improved insights as to how we can bring better social opportunities to adults with Asperger’s and Autism in the community. He’s a real leader in ‘chasing your dreams. After capturing our hearts in ‘Love On The Spectrum’, Michael has pursued his acting career, where he has just recently got back from filming a series in London. His poignant words last week when we caught up “The workforce is a prison for people who aren’t lawbreakers” resonated with me after having gone out alone last year to pursue my dreams and achieve more balance. Looking forward to catching up again soon my friend 🙌
