About us
Dark Dog Posse LLC is dedicated to animals, first and foremost. We support the people who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and otherwise save the uncared for, lost, rehomed, and unwanted, and we’re hoping this effort helps to find those lost souls the forever homes they were always meant to have.
There is a theory that dark dogs get adopted far less frequently than lighter-colored dogs. We want to shine a light on that idea to make sure that all dogs—all animals, for that matter—have an equal chance to find their furever homes.
The team at Dark Dog Posse has been volunteering and fostering with animal rescues for more than 20 years. During that time, we’ve had literally hundreds of dogs go through our home. Along the way, we have experienced the heartbreak of Parvo, the joy (and frustration) of puppies, the challenges of older animals, and the satisfaction of knowing we’re saving lives. We have learned a lot over the years, and we’re sure there is still so much more to discover. We think this will be a good way to continue that education.

I have to admit that when I was asked to write an article about dogs that protect vineyards from other animals that eat the grapes, I thought it wasn't a very good situation for the dogs. I had a better perspective after finding out the details of why it's actually beneficial for hunting dogs that have been abandoned or sent off to shelters because they wouldn't hunt.
