“This funding from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation will allow us to provide education and hands-on training to at least four new practices in New Hampshire and Vermont over the next year, including practices serving adults with oral health needs, and continue to support the six practices trained over the past year as they start to implement this care, growing the region’s capacity to offer this innovative treatment as part of routine clinical care,” said Gregory Norman, Dartmouth Health's senior director of community health. Our Center for Advancing Rural Health Equity at Dartmouth Health recently received a $8,000 grant from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to provide pediatric and adult healthcare providers in New Hampshire and Vermont with training in the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) for oral health.

“Young people in our state deserve outstanding clinical care to support their health and wellbeing,” said Dartmouth Health Chair of Psychiatry William C. Torrey, MD. An expanded public-private partnership between the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Dartmouth Health was recently approved by the New Hampshire Executive Council for the operation of Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility. Together, DHHS and Dartmouth Health will work toward building a Children’s Center of Excellence, delivering and expanding access to behavioral health services, providing trauma-informed care, and implementing evidence-based practices to ensure the most positive outcomes for children and youth. 30 years ago, northern New England had no air medical transport to get help to critically ill and injured people fast. But on July 1, 1994, that changed when the first DHART helicopter took off from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics). In three decades, the Dartmouth Health Advanced Response Team (DHART) has expanded and evolved, reshaping how critical care is delivered to the more than 2 million people living in the twin states of New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as neighboring states. "Without DHART, we would be losing a lot more lives," says Susan Reeves, system chief nursing executive of Dartmouth Health, and a former vice president of emergency services and DHART director. Read more about DHART's evolution, and plans for the program to reimagine medical transport in the region once again: https://lnkd.in/eHvRD7aD

Thanks for sharing this New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility (NHBSR) webinar about the work we are doing to support affordable housing and workforce development, Healthcare Anchor Network!
HAN member Dartmouth Health participated in a webinar on how place-based investing can support affordable housing and workforce development. The health system has provided $5 million of investment in the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund to support affordable and safe housing, including for Resident Owned Communities (ROCs). From the webinar: "I first got involved with impact investing through my job as Treasurer at Dartmouth Health and was asked to join a group that we had formed at the hospital that was working with an organization called the Healthcare Anchor Network that has been established to help hospitals think about how they can use their economic power so to speak to promote local economies that sustain healthy communities in areas like hiring, purchasing, and investing. I was eager to learn and and see what they had to offer and it was through that group that they connected me with the New Hampshire Community Loan [Fund]." Cancer hasn't stopped patient Connor Ponce. "This disease, even though he has his limitations, it hasn't stopped him. He still lives the same life as any other kid his age. He just does it differently. Connor's living his best life." His pediatrician Geraldine Rubin, MD, Dartmouth Health Children's at Cheshire Medical Center, got him a brain scan. Angela M. Ricci, MD, Dartmouth Health Children's at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics), has been their advocate in the treatment of Connor's cancer ever since. In our patient story series, Your Way Forward, we are privileged to provide an opportunity for Dartmouth Health patients to share their experiences in their own words.
